Some WTF fights.... ...Alien Grant vs Butler.....Ok the fight had ended when all hell broke loose. ....that pre-TV fight that Kellerman and Lampley covered....that was some fucked up commentary, Lampley, Merchant and Kellerman were basically making lewd jokes based on the fighters name or something. Anyone remember that. The King of WTF...Fan-Man at Bowe-Holy II, which is almost rivalled by Bowe-Golota I and II Some bizarre shit has happened in the UK.....Shea Neary vs some Argie Roadsweeper where a hole developed in the middle of the ring after a plank rose up. Hamed vs Wilf Vasquez where the ropes collapsed and the fight came to a halt while they tried to patch it up. Audley and Herbie having it out live on TV.
Yup, maybe that's the solution. Thing is, then threads where people reply to him become unintelligible. Ive never wanted rid of someone or used the ignore function in 11 years on boxing message boards either; he's the first. I'd just rather it was the first option. IMO he should be punted from both the boxing forums on this site. Let him post in MMA & TAA on subjects he gives a fuck about to his hearts content.
I'm still trying to figure our how Mayweather - Bumdomir happened and how Bumdomir was given a legit shot at winning by more than a handful of people.
here's a stylistic one - Jorge Castro v John David Jackson... by all accounts was supposed to be a rather dull, tactical, counter-punching affair... turns out to be an out and out brawl with a come from behind KO finish. never saw that coming and while we're at it - who really expected Sugar Ray vs. Hitman to unfold the way it did? The feared, aggressive puncher taking a lead on finesse and boxing skills and the highly touted skillfull boxer becoming the stalker, walking down his foe and needing a KO to win
Brian Kinney... Floyd Recognized BUMdomir was a Bum & Went Ahead w/his Pre-Planned Bout Against Zab Judah, even AFTER Zab Lost to BUMdomir...This is when Brian Kinney Got on his SoapBox, Praising BUMdomir as the "Real, Lineal Welterweight Champion" & a Person Floyd SHOULD Fight... Nevermind that Manny Pac Fought a RE w/Erik Morales even AFTER Morales LOST to Zahir Raheem...Floyd even Brought this Point to Kinney's Attention, but it was Glossed Over... Anyways, Floyd Ends Up Facing the "Real, Lineal Welterweight Champion" & All Anybody has Done Since is BITCH about it... REED:dancingBaby:
Floyd didn't want to fight Baldomir because he wanted to test himself and knew he didn't belong in the same ring with him, but they kept accusing Floyd of ducking so he said screw it and proved it. Same thing happened with Mosely, and will happen with Pacquiao.
Agree with everything apart from the 'wanted to test himself' bit. Unfortunately that's patently untrue, Floyd has no such motivation.
I thought Mayweather was criticized first for taking the Judah fight, which, in one of those 'only in boxing' scenarios, was somehow still a 'title' fight.
Well, Floyd had NATHAN to Do w/whatever Sanctioning Body ALLOWED Zab to Maintain his Title, After LOSING to Baldomir...REED Vividly Recalls Brian Kinney CHAMPIONING Baldomir's Cause MORE than Anybody Though... REED:kidcool:
Zab was UNDISPUTED when he Lost to Baldomir Though...1 of the Sanctioning CHOSE to Recognize Zab as their Champion even AFTER Baldomir Beat him.... REED:shit:
That's because all of the titles weren't on the line. Possible that Baldomir didn't pay the sanctioning fees or whatever the case was....
Agree, he didn't, but then I believe there some exception taken to comments he made about it being a 'title' fight, when it was in name only. But I can't stand Kenny, and disagreed with his (and Rafael's, among others) stumping for Baldomir. Personally, I would've rather Mayweather seen fight Spinks.
 Yet it was the answer to your question. The fight was not for the lineal championship per se, but was a title fight on the grounds of Judah being the IBF champion at the time. Boxing has worked like this for the last decade or so, so excuse me for my "Ask a simple question, give a simple answer" response..
artie: That's the one. Kellerman actually sounded like a cool-dude when he leaves the agenda to one side and just has fun like everyone else.
I just googled it, Baldomir couldn't afford to pay the WBA or IBF sanctioning fees so Judah retained teh IBF title. As I pretty much suspected as the situation is FAR from unprecedented. Seems to happen pretty much any time a fighter has more than one two belts.
No Shit, Sherlock... The POINT is the ________ (Insert Lame Ass Sanctioning Bodies Name HERE) Champion LOST in a TELEVISED Fight, No Less, to Carlos Friggin Baldomir...Today, the Meaning of "Titles" is ALREADY Cheap as Is, but when a Guy Actually MAINTAINS 1 Belt, while LOSING 2 Others (in the SAMEfuckingFIGHT), that's RIDICULOUS... REED:boohoo:
"WTF" Injury Fights Vitali vs Lewis. You all know the score. Basilio vs SRR- Basilio basically loses the use of his eye as it swells grotesquely. Danny Williams vs Mark Potter- Basically lost the use of an arm. And won. Dean Francis vs Undra White- As above. Except he lost. Kessler vs Froch, closing minutes....a vagina appears over Kesslers eye.
How about Casamayor-Corrales...cut from his mouthpiece...Margaret Goodman stops it says he's swallowing too much blood.
also in terms of WTF injuries - how about Casamayor-Corrales 1? Have you ever seen a fight stopped on a cut on (through) the mouth like that? Or the (imo) ridiculous explanation from the doctor that he was at risk of asphysxiation?
