I agree with you REED. Jacobs has much better footwork than Taylor ever did. That isn't debatable at all and I don't think the hand speed difference is that much better in Taylors favor. Jacobs actually won the 2nd rd in the fight by presenting Pirog with Europe's greatest weakness, a little movement. Too bad for Jacob he wasn't in shape enough to keep it up for more than a round and a half. Incidently he got KO'd because Pirog caught him with his punch right when Jacobs was bouncing forward off the rope.

Pirog looked good when shutting out virtually all of Arabham's former middleweight opponents some time ago, but recently it looked like he struggled a bit against some bums from the Baltic region, I then watched a couple of Jacobs fights and he seemed quick and relatively skillfull and thought pretty much that Pirog may go the way of Abdullaev, burnt out early into his pro-career while Jacobs would pot shot him on the fringe to a decision win, especially on American soil where it was revealed Pirog was going to be robbed and he was bitterly turned down from an interview (Guess he should have a protected career in Russia from now on).. but I should have realised that Pirog has many more gears and dimensions than the inferior Arthur Arabham, he's got a gameplan against superior handspeed whilst all Arabham can do is retreat behind a cowering ball,.. I think this fight, along with the Kofi Juantah one is a pretty irrefuteable measure that Pirog is indeed much, much better than Arthur "Irish" Arabham,..and will have a much more impressive career,... wether Arabham is exposed a few more times during the course of the supermiddleweight tournament I don't know, but regardless of what happens, it's time to meet his maker.

For Kauk and anyone else who saw Jacobs fight before tonight: Did you think he looked off tonight? Like maybe his excuse about camp and his grandma's death might hold a bit of water? Because for a guy supposed to be so quick he looked rather ordinary. I also failed to see him do the shoulder roll like they said he occasionally does. WTF?

Well the most worrying thing about Jacobs in light of this fight is the dreaded fact that he doesn't appear to have a chin whatsoever, people shouldn't be fooled by Pirog's KO ratio,.. he is NOT a puncher, not in the slightest,.. he wears his opposition down, they either quit on thier stools or just drop from exhaustion, the fact that Pirog was hurting him, with mere 1,2's tells me Jacobs chin is irrefuteably glass,.. same with the other hyped up middleweight contender, Korobov, who will be joining Jacobs in due time aswell, he's a part of the glass club. He and Korobov will have mirrored success in my opinion, perennial contenders who will never break the ribbon unless it's gifted to them.

I've always been a Casamayor hater. Hate his cheating ways and his ugly boring style, but I actually found myself rooting for him to KO the Ghost during Guerro's lackluster performance. I've never been a fan of Guerro's either but after tonight I flat out don't like the guy and I guess him beating Casa lines him up to take Casa's place in my hate archives.

I even take into consideration that Guerro was going easy on his friend and mentor, but it doesn't matter because Guerro is so easy to dislike. You can go with his crappy style, his gangly body, or his pasty white skin, there is just so much there to hate. Where I do give Guerro props is his wife is easily one of the hottest boxer wives out there, but then that just makes me hate him even more.

Isnt it just unreal that something like this is considered a PPV card?

as recently as 10 years ago this is boxing after dark fodder

I cant believe some of you guys buy these fucking things

and why was there a need for this rematch? what, the total asswhuppin dished out by Marquez the first time didnt convince people?

we better get Pacquaio/Cotto II or Mayweather/Mosley II because I'm JUST NOT CONVINCED who the better fighters were in those matches

what a fucking joke, this sport has gone to shit and those of you who can't see it are either blind or ignorant of where it once stood

A strong showing from Marquez --- the champ bounced back at the weight from his heavy loss to Mayweather in fine form, I thought. He didn't look thirty-six years of age, IMO. It was encouraging. However, Diaz's interests appear to lie elsewhere, if what I saw this afternoon was an indication. Shields has to take some of the rap for this, though. Together, he & Diaz effectively conspired to take the younger man out of the fight with that bizarre, "box-him," approach.

You would imagine, with my record, that I would be a fan of turtle-soup.

It seems the pale-arse from Russia scored the only decent stoppage of the night.

Pale-arse gon give darkie Arabham a slight rub too I'm fraid,.. Arabham and Pirog are probably about as white as each other,.. one slides down the route of north african descent,.. the other down the route of siberria/kazahk tatar finnish descent,.. the way I see it,.. being extra pale, and being too dark are as bad as each other,.. blondeness, redness, coloured eyes is like the *flashing* period before transcending into a mongoloid.. :stir: ..first the cheeks rise, then the head turns a little squared, then walla!,..

:stir: Arabham's sorts may have originated from the high altitude cold but as they settled down onto the flatter hotter land, and basked in that middle-eastern atmosphere, they've turned darker, and darker, generation after generation,...back to the egg....back to the egg,... neccesities for a colder climate receeding,.. back to the original human race for the armenians.... :crafty:

I disagree with that, although Pirog's manouvers were making Jacob's work and exhausting him, Pirog did not land enough to win 3 out of 4 rounds,.. he won the second and KO'd him in the 5th,.. but he landed too little for my liking to be honest,.. he's a good pressure fighter though and is very tough, confident.

After rewatching the fight,.. I'm pretty convinced Jacob's chin is shit,.. he did well for the majority of the fight, outboxed Pirog, landed more, but his chin is the real reason he lost, it's nowhere near good enough.

Monzon?.. he was an upright euro-stiff if ever there was one... but he wasn't 'Euro'..an amerindian mix I think,.. still, he gloriously paved the way for boring, height advantage, straight-shot dominance the Klitschko's are much resented for.

Monzon is sometimes overrated by those who act like he was invisible, and who act like he woulda beaten Hagler, Hopkins, and Robinson easily. BUT... he woulda cleaned house with anyone at 154-160 today with relative ease.
