Do you think Dana would know who Haye beat to be Champ? That fight was not televised here. Or how do you think he would know who Valuev beat to be champ? I mean how can someone who is doing is own thing keep up with all this bullshit? Dana has no filter. I dont see him lying much, but i could be wrong.
either way - if bob arum ever claimed to be an MMA fan, then i believe he would know who the heavyweight champions are, and the famous contenders. that's not really the case with arum, but white claims to be a boxing fan. it's not a big deal, i just don't believe him on that one statement. the overall video and points he makes are pretty good tho
How so? Boxing.com, boxingtime, fightbeat. i have been talking boxing on forums for 10 years. I have been talking boxing with certain guys here for 10 years. I've got a boxing library that will put most collectors to shame. I got over 50 books about the sport. I've got Signed shirts, gloves, posters, trunks, etc. I even have a signed protective cup by Evander Holyfield (dont ask)
I bought Tito trinidad Wallpaper for the baby's nursery and got threatened with divorce if i dared. True story
Not me. They dont show his fights on here. If they have, i missed it. When was the last time he fought on TV here?
it is clear to me Godfather that you used to be a boxing fan. seems to me you are a mich bigger MMA fan and have lost your interest in boxing by comparison
it has to be shown on US tv for a boxing fan to have seen it? like i said, most boxing fans i know have seen david haye fight. they have taken the time to go thru the arduous task of typing in "david haye" and watching some of his fights online.
Im frustrated with the sport. Im upset with the way its run. Love the sport, hate the way its run. I cant see anyone liking all these belts, people rufusing to fight, champions taking 1 to two years off. Bullshit undercards. Bullshit PPV cards Ugh
I never felt the need to watch Haye vs. Ruiz online. Im sure i coudl have seen a haye fight if i wanted to. but why? And against Ruiz? No thanks.
so you havent seen him fight because you don't want to see him fight. that's all you needed to say in the first place
In getting back on the theme of the video, can boxing be saved in the US. It doesn't seem like the amateur ranks are filling up with guys poised to bring titles back to the US. The interest has waned considerably while wrestling and other combat sports have seen dramatic increases. I personally live in a town with an American Top Team gym and 5 BJJ studios yet not a single boxing gym. Obviously MMA is on a huge ascent and kids in this country are lining up to take classes. So perhaps boxing is thriving in Europe and elsewhere but it is definitely suffering in the US. Does anyone see that changing, and if so, how?
I hate to say it but I don't think so. This country has always enjoyed a heavyweight boxing division dominated by American champions. Recently that has shifted to Europe, and one of the main lifelines of the sport has been taken away with this unprecedented shift. It's so much more advantageous for kids to go into American Football and even MMA because they can get into college with scholarships to play Football, Basketball or Wrestling, which can translate into an MMA career with some work but a solid wrestling background supported by a higher learning institution. the Latino-American populace keeps boxing alive in this country, imo... if not for them and the few reality star calibre american stars (floyd, DLH, etc) the sport would have been killed off here already, imo.
because he got knocked out and retired and the guy that knocked him out is a heavyweight titlist now. this is something that is relevant to most boxing fans i know, mate. if its not worth your time to even watch some clips or even (shock) the whole fight, then i would question how much you like the sport anymore. you can always turn on spike tv and watch your MMA instead.
Well, I will admit that I sought out a link to watch Haye-Ruiz. I wanted to see Ruiz finally beaten up. It was worth the effort. He took at least 3 shots for every stinker fight he was ever involved in.
you're the only one i know who calls himself a boxing fan and doesn't care enough to lift a finger to watch one of the more exciting heavyweight fighters fight. it's ok, just flip on spike tv and watch your mma you are the just about
