Sanchez is overrated by untimely death. JMM is ahead of sanchez clearly.

Lopez was better than any Marquez. I truly struggle to think of a single thing Marquez does better.

I think there's a viewpoint forming here that Marquez has had the better career simply by virtue of being a success with competition a good deal better --- but let's not forget, Lopez has a record of lasting, inpenetrable dominance Marquez has never reached within a million miles of --- & Marquez's big-name rivals are only truly a product of the last six or seven years, not a hallmark of his entire career.

In this sense, it is vaguely akin to the old Ali-Louis debate. Two spectacular fighters. Do you like Ali's sensational level of opposition, or Louis' peerless domination? That's the debate here to some degree, though the big distinction for me is that I see Ali & Louis as very, very close in regards to ability, whereas Lopez leaves Marquez a good distance short of the mark, for mine.

Exactly. This isn't ballet. It's boxing. It's cool and all that Lopez managed to fight artistically, and make things look easy, but to say because of that he's necessarily better than someone like JMM, who's proven not only his great technique, but also his ability to defeat the sport's best opposition? It's like saying the Harlem Globe Trotters are better than the Boston Celtics.

And let's not forget that when JMM wasn't getting the big fights he craved, and was instead fighting guys like Medina, he was dominating just as Lopez was.

By default, he's better than Lopez at taking on and defeating top competition (Barrera, Pacquiao, PBF)

Maybe by some, but Sanchez had built up quite the credentials even before his untimely death.

It's not like he was somebody like Len Bias where all of the talk is purely based upon potential talent alone.

he may have knocked out the young flyweight version of pacquiao. but that's not saying much.

You don't consider this subject one for debate, & truthfully, neither do I.

Lopez just has Marquez beat, as a fighter, on nearly every level. There is no more committed or longer-serving supporter of both brothers than myself, but...

Im guessing it wasnt the first fight with Marquez where a washed up bantamweight johnson got robbed in texas

    M. Jonson would've killed Lopez. He was at 112. Carbajal, 108. Chiquita? 108. Lopez?
Lopez was a fragile dancing homo-sexual if you ask me. He demonstrated a woman's fear of other men kind of like RJJ, kind of like PBF.

it's amazing how hight Lopez gets ranked.

Lopez, Carbajal, and Gonzalez are all hall of famers. yet Carbajal and Gonzalez fought a classic trilogy. yet Lopez never fought either guy once? :scratcher:

Yet he is supposed to rank higher without fighting the best of his era who were 3 pounds apart.
