    I don't know about robbed.

Alexander didn't have his best night for sure.

But he still clearly outworked Kotelnik.

Did Max Kellerman jump in the ring and ask Devon Alexander why he failed to do anything like the job that A Mere Con did on Kotelnik?

Actually I don't recall him asking that question.

    I expected him to though.

When Alexander timed Urango and stopped him, Kellerman got in the ring and did this routine of pointing out how well he had done "without holding" etc, clearly a dig at Ricky Hatton who had beaten Urango like 3, 4 years previously.

Now that Alexander has been flat-out busted up and beaten by Kotelnik, who was handled, easily enough, by Khan, I wonder if old Kellerman had any questions for Devon.

    Apparently not.:shit::shit:

It was in St. Louis. It's tough to say this but Kotelnik had to do more if he wanted to bitch about the decision afterwards.

Harold Lederman should be removed as HBO's judge...it was hilarious to see an old man completely losing it...he kept repeating how Alexander was the busier fighter..that is if you count blocked useless flurries and missed jabs..Kotelnik landed alot of clean damaging punches..actually..he outlanded Alexander with the headshots pretty easily..He got his ass beat pretty good..7 rounds to 5 for the ukranian...possibly 6-6 but no doubt that boxing these days is just not what it used to be..Alexander looks like a journeyman fighter compared to back in the old days when i used to post here

Kotelnik had his moments but Alexander won pretty clearly. Closer fight then Lederman had it.

Based on the Maidana / Kotelnik fight I'd have to think Maidana would pose a very stiff test to Alexander because of the power matchup and the fact he's way more savvy then Urango, even if he is considered more of a brawler.

Alexander showed plenty of holes against Kotelnik.

Not exactly. Devon Alexander is FROM St. Louis. I would submit this to any boxer if you are going to fight in the home TOWN of the home country of the titleholder, then you should be prepared to dominate the fight if you expect to get the decision. I am not saying its right, it's just the way it is.

I thought Alexander squeaked out the win... was the decision too wide? Yeah it was. Too fuckin bad Kotelnik. Knock the guy out or kick his ass before you bitch you knew this going in.

Yeah Kotelnik had his moments. About eight rounds of them. Seriosuly how can anyone think Alexander won that fight. I can see a draw. You bascially have to go out of your way to score that fight for Alexander. You have to give him the first four rounds, while giving him the activity bonus, the champion bonus and the hometown bonus. And that´s what judges always do and come up with decisions that are wrong. Yes you can find six rounds to give to Alexander, but it´s still not a reflection of what happened in that ring.

From round five on Kotelnik controlled the whole fight. He landed the harder punches, the cleaner punches, he dictated the pace and direction of the fight, and he showed the superior defense.

I thought Kotelnik won but I knew it was way too close for them to give him the decision in St. Louis. Not only did Kotelnik land the cleaner punches but he landed more punches. Harold Ledderman showed his ass last night. What a joke of a "judge" that guy is. :eek:ld:

It's been a while since Ledderman has wound me up like that....i thought maybe he had gotten better, but i guess not. I thought Kellerman and Papa were right on point, and glad that they took issue with it.

Harold Ledderman kept talking about the areas in which judges score fights. Apparently he left out the credit given for punching your opponent's gloves. Because it damn sure seemed like Alexander got a ton of credit for repeatedly nailing Koetelnik's gloves.

Good arguments here, nice read on the fight last night.

But, bottom line: it will not matter in the long run as Tim Bradley will take care of Alexander BIG TIME!

I picked Lamont Peterson to beat Bradley, a kid I have been following since the amateurs, and Bradley literally took this gifted fighter apart and gave him a painful learning lesson in the process.

"Desert Storm" made a believer out of me then and there with that dominating, championship performance.

The punch stats were crap all around. Neither guy landed anywhere near as many shots as the stats gave them credit for. I wish they would do away with them for good.

The judges don't get to see the punch stats between rounds so why are these TV schmucks scoring fights based on the graphs put up on the screen between rounds?
