Only 'international' champion, apparently. Whatever the hell that is. These governing bodies need to fuck off. Seriously.
You guys need to pay closer attention. Selcuk Aydin is the WBC welterweight champion. No sorry, he´s the interim champion, sorry now called silver champion. Viacheslav Senchenko is the WBC welterweight champion. Ah fuck wrong again, he´s the WBA regular champion. Now I got it Shane Mosley. Ah fuck no, he´s the WBA super champion, who lost a non title fight to Floyd Mayweather. Speaking of Floyd, ah Manny Pacquiao, he became a champ at 147, when he beat Miguel Cotto at 145 pounds. But no that was the WBO. Now I got it Ande Berto. That´s right. He´s the WBC welterweight champion. See that wasn´t that difficult, you just have to pay a little attention. Now who was that IBF welterweight champion again?
I'm not making this up. On September 11th (9/11), Erik Morales is fighting Willie Limond for the Vacant "WBC Diamond Light Welterweight Title". :NotThink:
I saw that on the schedule a while back. I thought it might be a mistake but these days, you never know. Ten years ago, I could tell you the 68 world champs. 17 champs with the four major belts. Now I couldn't name 15 world champions. And I don't give a fuck either. The governing bodies have done everything in their power to make their belts absolutely worthless. And this is a Morales fan saying this. It's the truth. I remeber back around '01 or so when Paulie Ayala was the WBA 118 champ and he agreed to fight Bones Adams who was the WBA 122 champ. The WBA ended up stripping both of them for not fighting the no names they had lined up as #1 contenders. At that point, I pretty much said fuck the WBA and all other governing bodies. :flip:
It's only for the interim diamond title. If he doesn't face the #1 ranked Emerald contender within 4 months he will be stripped. At that point The #1 Emerald contender will face whoever is available in top 8 in the platinum rankings. On a boxing forum you figure people would know this stuff. Christ! :bangh:
Well if Morales can beat Limond then beats a guy who nearly beat a guy who kind of beat Marco Antonio Barrera so you can see why this would attract "Diamond" status.
You forgot that the top 8 Platinum contender must hold the Fedelatin super championship belt prior to being an opponent for the #1 rated Emerald titleholder in the division.
As far as I know, the WBC Intercontinental Fecarbox Interim Cubic Zirconium Light Welterweight Super Lightweight Galactic Obsidian Pyrite Championship is vacant
I might just go after it. :shadow: I'd like to be able to obtain the title without having to get in the ring with somebody throwing punches at me though if that's at all possible.
I would try, but I can't here. I don't mind regional belts, I don't mind interim belts. That all makes sense to me. The WBA doing a super belt...whatever...that made sense until they called their interim champ the regular champ, but still called all champs regular champs...that fucking pissed me off and makes no sense. The WBO, I think, does the super champ thing correctly. The WBC with this silver and diamond mess...I'm not going to stick up for it. Frankly, I don't even know what it means. I'm still trying to figure out why they went with the WBC USNBC designation for one of their regional belts. The IBF, like the WBO, I think, has managed to stay clear of this nonsense when naming their titles.
the idea of a "SUPER CHAMPION" is the single most absurd thing I've ever heard "This year, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup... however the SUPER DUPER STANLEY CUP, which is waaaaay cooler, is still up fpr grabs... so in essence, the Blackhawks are champions of nothing"
