What a great boxer,..and equally great man in and outta the ring. Damn shame that his patriotism for his country ultimately ruined his life outside of boxing. He could have very easily gained citizenship and stayed here in the US and had a good finantially secure life,....but he was a nationalistic man who loved his country and wanted to change things for the best. Imo, his death was by the hands of the Sandinistas.......not suicide. Let us boxing fans pay tribute to an all time great with posts and videos if possible. May he rest in peace
Alexis was a good fighter. That's all I know about him. That's all the facts I have. Oh. In his later life, he liked to sniff coke too, which makes him human.
anyone see the HBO documentary on Gatti, Forest and Arguello? it explains a lot on how he was used by the Sandinista's.
one of my all time faves... they don't get a whole lot more nice to watch... he made brutal, rib-breaking, head-caving punching look like beautiful art... one almost forgets the horrendous damage he is doing with practically every punch because he looks so calm and harmonious doing it he had the heart of a lion as well, was very tough and durable and though he was slow of foot and even of hand, his timing was immaculate, as was his sense of distance and his parrying ability was superb
If you were making a boxing textbook you could just fill the whole offensive section with pictures of Arguello throwing. Beauty. His underhand left to the body-overhand right combo has to be one of boxing history's best signature moves. Later borrowed by Morales.
In an interveiw once that was referenced during the Pryor fight by Tompkins, Arguello said something to the effect that in a given round his goal is to go out there and land three or four good punches. That's what it took to beat his opponents. In the Olivares fight, Arguello showed he could overcome the difficulties of fighting a guy with good foot-work and movement. SRL was licking his lips, hoping Arguello would've beaten Pryor. He would've taken him on in a second. He said Arguello had trouble with all boxers.
It's weird when people say that because really, who doesn't? Duran of all people had trouble with SRL's movement. SRL himself had trouble with Hearn's movement. BTW, I am on a shitty lap-top at the moment, so it's possible you're correct about the video feed. Does the CPU and/or graphics card, memory impact the performance of online video?
Im not sure, Double, to be honest thats a bit above my level of computer knowledge google the question, I bet theres a million answers
