I am no expert at this at all but i thought, i've seen things like this defended plenty in the UFC... Alves vs. Koscheck for instance - or is this different - would enjoy an explanation from someone who knows this shit, like you.

yep, that's my main beef about making illegal the 4 point attack.

Even if the shot get stuffed, the wrestler can just continue holding on to the leg, and pushing with the shoulder, cause he doesn't have to worry about getting kneed in the face

You're dead on. Anyone with an ounce of wrestling background easily gets out of that sloppy single leg. The idea that it is "nearly impossible" to shut down is ridiculous. Hell even in the post fight press conference Couture indicated that most MMA guys could easily step out of that shot or counter.

Do you honestly think Couture's tries that same shitty shot against anyone other than James Toney? No chance.

I was as wrong as humanly possible when looking at this fight. I knew Couture's shots would be sloppy but I never thought Toney would go down so easily. The dude actually used to be athletic. Oh well.

My favorite part of the night was Couture and his crew acting like he had just beaten Fedor. I understand it was an "important" fight, but really it just turned out to be a squash match against a guy who was grappling illiterate and was most likely there just for a paycheck.

A double leg takedown is easier to defend agaisnt with a punch that. Single ankle takedown is a colledge wrestling move. If it was someoen that knew that they were doing, its easy to escape, but Randy knew that Toney didnt know how to escape it and used it.

Lauzon -Ruediger was a one sided manhandling, I fail to see what was really good about it. Diaz-Davis was way too sloppy for me to enjoy. Edgar-Penn was ok at best, overall the card sucked, one of the worst I've saw in a long while

Everyone on here knows I am normally entertained by almost any MMA card. This one didn't really work for me. Even the Diaz-Davis fight was painful to watch as Davis was really done after about 4 minutes.

The Florian-Maynard fight was the worst I've seen in a long time. And Maia-Miranda was a decent scrap but Maia didn't risk enough to get a sub. He was like velcro for 4:30 and then would try something as time was running down.

For me, even Penn-Edgar was boring. BJ really had no clue. It is amazing how bad he looked. Even his ground grappling which has always been amazing, sucked.

    Bad card.. Period.

The fights were bad but the card was good. Nobody expected this to be bad fights. This was a good card that should have provided entertaining fights, but it didnt happen. The card wasnt bad, the fighters just didnt produce good fights. On paper, this was a above average card.

Oh I agree. On paper I was looking forward to all the fights. They just didn't produce. I don't think anyone expects Maynard to ever be in an exciting fight, but I was really hoping Florian would make it a fight.

To be honest, I thought Penn-Edgar was going to be better this time around. I honestly thought BJ was going to attack and impose his size advantage. He didn't.

With all that said, it was worth watching simply for the spectacle of seeing Toney absolutely made to look stupid. No matter how much he got paid or how little he trained, 47 year old Couture made him his bitch.

The name Gray Maynard cannot be a coincidence. Gay Laynard is such a natural. The guy is MMA´s John Ruiz. Hopefully Joe Warren will get his against Soto, and not luck out of subs again. :bangh:

Boy I am right there with you. Don't get me wrong, I like the discipline and ability of wrestlers but I don't want to see the sport dominated by guys that can get takes downs and simply control position.
