Who would you define as the most charismatic active fighters in and out of the ring? For example Tyson was a very charismatic inside the ring, he had the aura of fear and pain with him, although in interviews he sounded like Mickey Mouse. Naseem Hamed on the other hand had a great charisma outside the ring, he could make people excited and enraged like noone in long time.

Who are the charismatic fighters now?

Tyson is more entertaining outside the ring than in.

Right now....Pacman I suppose. David Haye is pretty charismatic, but then nobody seems to care.

It says "Most Charismatic FIGHTER". As soon as Haye fights, we can start giving a fuck.

Has he even SIGNED to fight Harrison?

In the ring, I think Yuriorkis Gamboa has it. Juan Manuel Lopez has some charisma too...maybe we'll be able to see their charisma's against each other some time.

I'd say Michael Katsidis has some.

Berto, like Haye, has some charisma, but it's shy and does not like sharing the ring with others who have it.

Hamed's charisma was 99% INSIDE THE RING...what's da matter with you, you misguided Fin?

    Anyway....

Difficult to define "charisma" in the context of boxing. Currently...on any level...on any measurment scale....it's Manny pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather...head and shoulders above the forgettable rest.

Mayweather's in-ring "charisma" depends on the opponent, though, doesn't it?

I mean, he's a more compelling watch if he's in against a more offensive fighter.

Diego Corrales, was a charismatic fighter no matter who he was in against...and that fight was one of Mayweather's most charismatic performances...even though it was completely one-sided.

But I don't think some of Mayweather's performances are what I'd call "charismatic".

He gets people to watch, but he doesn't always hold their interest when he's actually fighting in the ring...I assume that's what we're talking about.

That's teh thing....I'm not sure what we're talkign about. All i know is that when mayweather fights..love him or hate him..people want to watch. Same with Pacquiao.

Mayweather has turned in some snoozers, true, but he's also turned in electric performances (Corrales, Gatti, Judah, Hatton)

JuanMa is the best example I've seen listed so far. Katsidis is a good one as well.

If the scope wasn't limited to "right now" Felix Trinidad is honestly the first fighter that'd come to mind, and a big part of why he's my ATF. So the trick is to think of the present day fighters that can compare to Tito.

But as mentioned by a couple, greater clarification might be required. The mention of Floyd and Pac tells me that people equate (and perhaps confuse?) popularity and charisma.

If he had more exposure (or were 20-30 lb heavier, since it seems to matter in a lot of circles), I'd toss Nonito Donaire into the mix.

Nonito Donaire is a great mention. I remember seeing some of his earlier off-television fights and thinking this kid has got it.

It's a shame he's not more well known.

Negative. A big part was all the build-up, his talking, those ring walks, leaps over the rope, show in the ring before the fight began etc. The electricity was there before the fighting started, though of course his style added up to it

Wladimir Klitschko has a lot of charisma. If some of you could speak English you would notice it.

I'll never forget the time he punked Roy Jones........

Not all his ring walks were great, though, that Halloween night one against McCullough was a pretty boring one, IMO.

I agree, he does. It's just a shame that the appeal ends the moment the opening bell rings.

Wlad is dull. His call out of David Haye was about as gay as I feel when I look at Britney spear's umpa lumpa legs.

I think he was on one of those atrocious ESPN morning shows (Cold Pizza or something) and he was pretty cringe-worthy. Think he tried to do some magic trick or something....I changed the channel it was so bad.

You feeling gay is your problem. We all look at Wlad in a different light. If yours is a pinker shade of pale then, hey, fine.

Tying a beanie cap round his head and attacking people in a mall would have been so much more "charismer", right?

Oh. If you had only said this in advance my opinion of the guy would have been reviewed. Doing magic tricks on TV is obviously not cool. Assaulting people in shopping malls is cooler. That and a funky t-shirt. You are right. I need to review my definition of charisma.

Did you see his last fight Jake. One punch KO. Pretty fucking charismatic. Gives a whole new meaning to the expression..."One in the Chamber".

Assaulting people isn't cool. Seeing people's genuine, raw personality is. To be able to show that unaffected by the glare is basically what 'charisma' is. Wlad is affected and practiced & stand offish, maybe even more so than Mr.Boring himself, Lennox lewis was.

The guy basically has no charisma, sorry. He might be smart and come up with the occasional quip but he's totally unengaging & uninteresting as a public figure.

In the very last round after another careful CAREFUL, CAREFULLLLLLLL display. He has the fighting mindset of a grey cardiganed actuary.

Bullshit. Absolute bullshit. You just don't like him.

Haye rehearsed that little stunt and looked scared and nervous throughout. His eyes darted and withdrew like the guy was on smack.

Klitschko, who was taken by surprise, showed remarkable composure and basically verbally dealt with the guy in as composed and restrained a fashion as you like. An uncharismatic guy, like Sonny Liston, would have said nothing, and snapped his fucking neck. Charisma is just an extroverts form of composure.

To say the guy has no charisma is, I'm afraid, denial of the worst kind. Comparing him to Lewis, who was a better heavyweight but as wooden as a fucking forest, is tee-totally unfair. Lewis speaks a half-notch faster than Larry Merchant and rarely, if ever, has anything any more interesting to say.

Lewis is awful with words and is basically a self-confessed recluse who jealously guards his privacy.

I did - 11 rounds of shit (not that Chambers did anything to help make it any more exciting) followed by a good ending.

Not trying to hate on the man or anything, but his fights just aren't very exciting. A good ending if we're fortunate, but it's been a long time since he's offered a nice mix of dominance and entertainment.

Fair enough. Wlad does talk really well and he's good looking. He probably could be more marketable than he is with a totally different in ring style.

Iy you've seen Pac on that talkshow soon after the Clottey fight he had the entire audience beaming and loving him. He has some natural charisma, as boring as his comments in interviews usually are.

What you call shit is what Floyd Mayweather call's a master-class.

You never liked him. You said yourself that you celebrated his loss to Sanders because you didn't like the HBO hype. Now that he is a more complete fighter with no HBO connections, you still have a beef.

Not all of them, but a lot of his earlier stuff was gung-ho. A fight can be boring, but that doesn't make it "shit"....nor does it diminish his out-of-the-ring persona, which is that of a fairly outgoing guy who can mix and mingle with just about anyone. Manny Steward, who has a short fuse when it comes to assholes, regards him as very very good company.

I would have thought that a fighter as allegedly vulnerable as Wlad, with his poor chin, would have had you on the edge of your seat waiting for the inevitable unravelling as he pounds on guys, no?
