Word from montreal newspaper is that apart from something major happening, the fight will be signed and take place in december ( I guess they don't know Hopkins notorious difficulty in actually finalizing a fight )
Hopkins' tends to choose to use BOTH hands in most his fights, even as a 93 year old. Let's see how Pascal deals with that.
The good news is that if it happens, HBO has no interest in the fight, and Showtime most likely can't afford it. That means Golden Boy will be forced to go the PPV route if they want stateside coverage, which means that unless Canadian TV is willing to foot the entire bill, they get to lose more money on Hopkins.
This will get shown in the afternoon on Channel 10 in Gatineau with no pre-fight buildup except for maybe a 10-second blurb on RDS. If anyone other than Azazel, Baron, and Jesus of Montreal knows what I'm talking about, I'd be amazed. Hopkins has more lives than a bagful of cats, but his style has become so boring to me.

I dunno...when was the Joppy fight? He beat Joppy so bad, Joppy looked like he had a mouthful of golfballs and Flintstone lumps all over his face. Actually I guess it was when he beat Tarver...but only because it shut Tarver up bigtime.
The Joppy fight was 2003... although I have to say I even found that to be monotonous. The Tarver fight served the very purpose you cited (humiliating him, even though Tarver still finds ways to claim it never happened), but was actually pretty damn boring. I don't think they threw even 900 punches between them.
Damn and this is actually a Hopkins fight I'd wanna watch, moreso because I've only seen Pascal against Dawson and would like to see some more.
Hopkins must think he has a good chance against Pascal. Pascal is not overly active and he probably thinks he can time him every time he jumps in like he does. Kind of like an old Roy Jones.
Again a fight where Pascal has the right style to win but Hopkins' stinkyness might save him the day. I'd be interested to see it.
I'd rather watch Wlad methodically run through the heavyweight division than watch any version of Hopkins from 2004 onward fight anyone. Better?
It will be a ppv also through Canal Indigo and probably cost a hundred bucks. They charged 75 for Lucas/Menefee.
