According to Ruslan Chikov at BoxingScene, there is talk of this fight for next March.

Vitali has a fight at the moment and my advice to him would be to concentrate on that and not take people for granted.

I've heard Fightbeat is where he goes for pre-fight advice.

But is Shelly Finkel allowed to concentrate on more than just his next fight?

    I mean.......we can all wise-crack..but.......:boohoo:

Shelley Finkel can do what he wants. There is a difference between adding a few strings to your bow on one hand, and making it public on the other.

Surely he communicates with Vitali on these matters, and reaches some consensus with him before proceeding further.

Vitali really shouldn't be talking to Finkel about anything right now, he has signed to fight Briggs and that is that.

By not making it public you mean making sure no "sources" - of any kind - talk to the Russia press?

Perhaps that was a failure of their Orange Revolution venture.

If only they'd gotten in good with Putin instead, they could've like nipped this thing in the bud well before BoxingScene got wind of it.

The issue being the attempt to find an available date at Madison Square Garden, or that he's potentially the first fighter to ever step into the ring with a future fight in discussion?

Adamek-Grant attracted very little discussion around here because

    1. Adamek won.

    2. Adamek won.

    3. Ademek won

    and

    4. Nobody cares about heavyweights , a point which is distinctly related to Adamek, and others, winning.

Klitschko is looking past Briggs. Period.

So it wasn't because Grant was last seen (by most) getting stopped seven years ago by Dominick Guinn?

And I think the last sentence shows the real "issue" you were talking about was buidling an excuse...and to do that, you've always gotta lay a good foundation. :bears:

It's like the glory days all over again. Maybe Adamek can hire Mackie Shillstone and wear knee braces, and maybe Vitali can be so kind as to drop a decision to him. It would bring back the aura of '85. Then Vitali can declare that "Timo Hoffman cannot carry my jockstrap", before Adamek get's KTFO in 1 round by Taurus Sykes 5 years later.:laughing:

Michael Spinks would beat every man Vitali has ever beaten, easily.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Yeah i forget how archaic boxing style was in the late 80s. Easy to forget in my rush to romanticise the past.

The only guy Vitali ever beat who'd have a chance is Sanders. I'd heavily favour Spinks though.

Listen to the dialogue between Bunce and Mee and you get an idea of how even compurgators like Steve Bunce are prepared to admit that journalists are lazy, half-assed creatures who prefer to swallow the "official" line rather than do any independent research of their own. How misconceptions are distilled into "facts" which are purer than the driven snow.

Cool. Was a decent listen. What does this have to do with Michael Spinks beating everyone Vitali has beaten? Reminding you again that it was you who brought up Michael Spinks as an example of how shit the division was at that time, for some reason.:tick:

Adamek is just too small. Too bad since the heavyweight is pretty damn boring with Klistchkos on top and no one in sight to beat them...

I´m just glad Adamek is not an undersized heavyweight with a big mouth, who is milking his fanbase to the fullest claiming to prepare for a Klitschko fight like David Haye. He is really taking his preparations seriously. First Golota, Grant and now Maddalone. He´s gradually stepping up in class. If he goes from Maddalone to Savarese he´ll be ready in three months. :fightme:

Yes, but by that same token, I could use the old get out of jail card that this fight "makes business sense".

    Polacks vs Italians.

All Adamek has to do now is claim he is a Jew and we have ourselves the best gate since Soldiers Field.
