What are your experiences with meeting fighters?

I have had some fortunate luck and have been able to meet a few pro fighters. Has anyone else? Post some experiences about them. I am curious to read what certain guys have come across. I met Frank Shamrock once, the guy is a total jackass. Matt Lindland is a real cool guy, very laid back. Most of you know Chris Leben is a friend of mine. Anyone have any cool stories or bad experiences with a fuckwad like Frank Shamrock?::

 

Joe Riggs was the only one I met who was a bit of a dick.

Almost every other fighter I met was cool as hell. Belfort was one of the coolest, nicest guy ever. Tito was suprisingly cool too when I told him I was from near his hometown. Met Bas Rutten in a bar once. He asked me to buy him a beer . Funny guy.

 

Never met any but I know a guy who met Ivan Salaverry. Ivan's apparently a really nice guy but the guy who met him is a bit of an asshole.:dancingBaby:

You should get more into the specific about why the guy's ( like Frand or Riggs ) were assholes ??? Personnaly, the only MMA fighter I ever crossed was GSP. It was at a bar and he seemed like a cool guy, but I'm no fan of him ( I find his style is very boring and risk free ) so didn't talked to him even thought he seemed happy to have a fan club around him and didn't look rude to them at all.

I've talked to Jean Pascall just after he turned pro ( he had like 5 pro fights ) in a club also, he seemed happy to see someone recognize him as he was an unkonwn at the time. Was pretty cool but seemed a bit fake ( we'll win the title togheter, you're the one ( the fans ) who gives me the strenght to continue and bla bla bla ), still a classy guy.

 

Most of U Know that REED is Pretty Tight w/Marcus Hicks...He's the Only MMAist that REED Can Say he Knows Personally, who Approached a World Class Level...The Rest R Local "Stars" Like Pete Spratt & Joe "Jitsu" Christopher....

one that stands out as really nice guys are big nog, hendo, kflo and shogun

 

my parents were in maui and they got to meet bjpenn

apparently it was after a autograph signing and he let them in and they hung out wtih him for like 20 minutes, they said he was really nice and had a lot of laughs

 

The Only "Bad" Experience REED Had Occured w/Lennox Lewis @ a Black-Tie Event...REED had 8 Questions to Ask, but Lennox Shoo'ed REED Off like a Fly...He LITERALLY Waved his Hand & Said, "Not Right Now, Buddy"& When REED Kept Asking, Lennox Got 1 of his Security Guys to Give REED a STERN Warning...

Only name fighter I have met is Brandon Vera. I was sitting in some good seats at a Strikeforce event, there was a hot chick in front of me and I talked to her a little bit, I was amazed at her fight game knowledge, then her husband sits down next to her, it's Brandon fucking Vera and I was just talking to his chick! So for the rest of the show I talked to Kerry and Brandon Vera, both were way cool.

 

I've beaten up every fighter i've met so i couldn't really tell you too much about their personalities.

Anyways, Azazel, Frank was just such a cocky bastard. I met him after a night of fights put on down in Portland. Chris Leben invited me there. It was really cool just bullshitting with all these guys, but Frank just talked down to everyone. The fights were mostly up and comers but alot were trained by well respected fighters or in their camps. Frank felt the need to tell everyone that they pretty much sucked and had no future in MMA. I asked him why he didn't compete in the UFC and he stated there wasn't enough competition for him. The guy is a complete tool.

 

Did you ask him if zits and a voice change come with the braces?

I've alway's liked Frank since he slam koed a guy at a early UFC. And he seemed like a pretty cool guy when he's doing commentary for TV. Sucks to see that this isn't the case.
