The ring is not big enough for Cory to hide.....Vargas wins this...Cory won't last to distance...

    I dunno....

I guess the consensus bet is that Vargas wins by late TKO...but Cory managed to evade a PRIME Mayorga for 12 rounds, and Mayorga was faster handed than Vargas at the very least (with similar power). Also the bigger stronger Jermaine Taylor (the most hated fighter on Mythical Matchups)..couldn't stop him.

I think Cory would last the distance in this one but lose a close decision.

First of all.... PRIME Vargas was much better fighter then any version of Mayorga. I dont care if Mayorga beat a version of Vargas that I coulda probably beaten! Nando's skill set and accuracy was so much better than Mayorga's its not even funny.

2nd of all... Vargas was a better techncian than Taylor as well. Jermain couldnt throw a straight punch if his life depended on it. And his ring IQ was always low. Which allowed Spinks to give him alot of trouble.

Spinks' best performance IMO is when he beat Karmazin. But even in that fight, Karmazin gave Cory trouble late and tagged him up a bit. And I dont need to tell you how many levels higher Vargas is over Karmazin.

Nando would simply destroy Spinks. Vargas in his prime was quick enough of hand and foot to wear Cory couldnt run, and Spinks has NOTHING to deter Vargas with, which is the biggest factor. Once Vargas closes the distance, his physical strength, power and accuracy would just be way too much for Spinks. And Vargas was always a very good finisher when he got a guy hurt.

Its a mismatch in my book. Vargas is pretty underrated nowadays. From 98-00 he was a very good figher. He would lose to most, if not all GREAT fighters, but a guy like Spinks he would wipe his ass with.

If he was prime today, he'd be ruling 154.

Vargas by late stoppage or UD, depending on how well Cory runs

I was never on the vargas bandwagon. Felt he was overrated long before he lost to Trinidad. I was actually surprised it took tito 12 rounds to destroy him actually..my original prediction was a stoppage for tito in the middle rounds.

Spinks would prove too slippery for Nando to KO.

Nando was overrated AT THE TIME, but nowadays he's underrated.

The biggest problem for Spinks here, outside of not being able to hurt Vargas, is that Cory always had shit stamina. And on top of all that face it, Spinks' chin was never very good.

Cory does ok for the first few rounds, but it wouldnt take that long for Nando to close the distance. And once it does, Spinks would get battered.

I can't see Spinks surviving a prime Vargas. He was badly hurt by Karmazin in that fight and despite being slick and quick he was always hittable.

Vargas would break him down and stop him in less than 10 rounds.

Exactly. Vargas was a better fighter then Taylor. Jermain was a better ATHLETE than Vargas, and twice won sloppy fights with a B-Hop that simply wouldnt let his hands go.

Hell FURTHERMORE.... Vargas ran a prime Winky very close, though in the end I had Winky beating him slightly. Whereas a past primmed Winky clearly beat Taylor, and got robbed.

Weird fight for me. Most of my ATF were action fighters, yet I was always a Cory fan and never cared for Fernando.

P4P I might be inclined to plead a case for Spinks, but at 154 I'd have to go with Vargas all the way. Cory was never the same fighter once he moved up. Skills began to decline and wasn't quite as elusive. Prime Vargas would've eventually found a way to close the gap and light him up.

Spinks became very overated...he ran for his life against Mayorga and somehow got a win in a fight where he should have been DQ'd and fined
