Clarifies rumors. Contrary to rumors and other online reports, former junior welterweight champ Ricky Hatton says he's not retired. In article written by Hatton for the Manchester Evening News, Hatton says, "I'd like to clarify the position with regards my boxing career once again. As usual, one sentence out of many can take a conversation out of context, and until you hear it officially from the horse's mouth, I am not retired! "I have renewed my licence and if I wake up one day and the urge is there, you'll be the first to know." Keep us posted Sly...
I think those repeated drains throughout his career are a bigger problem now than they were five & six years ago. Hatton ostensibly disagrees, & good luck to him --- but he's not in his early-20's anymore.
Hatton just learnt from Zoo, who is also not retired after many years of not fighting. In fact, according to Zoo's website he is still "Undisputed SuperLightweight Champion of the World". Maybe Hatton can also be "Undisputed SuperLightweight Champion of the World" again too!
Why not? Good fight for both. I wish Hatton would come back and get another great win. No, that wouldn't be Diaz. Dismissing him after two losses to P4P#1 and #2 (or P4P #1 and #1 depending on who you talk to) pisses me off. I agree that the odds are against Hatton now, but acting like he has no chance to accomplish anymore is bullshit, imo.
Actually, Khan would be the superfight if Khan beats Maidana and Hatton beats Diaz. But you don't think Diaz vs Hatton is a great fight on paper? They both like to come forward and fight. I think it would be a war while it lasted.
Hatton is through. Once again I fail to see why it is even open for discussion. The guy has not fought since....March or so of 2009. He is unlikely to have done any training in the interim.
If that's the way it was set up...that Hatton-Khan would directly follow, I'd watch the Diaz fight to see what Hatton might offer in that fight. Hatton-Diaz, in and of itself, doesn't do a great deal for me.
Exactly. Mike is talking as if two brutal KO's, fifteen years of guiness, fry-ups and multiple crash diets and a year and however long of complete inactivity haven't actually happened and that rather Hatton is still the world force he was in 2005. MTF :notallthere:
I could look past even all that if it weren't for the fact that Hatton is not even in shape right now. In fact he looks damned unhealthy. He isn't out of shape, he is plain outright fat. He has bad skin and looks like he is sweating profusely all the time. For him to get into shape, properly and safely, would probably take 4 months anyways. And then as you say you throw in 15 years of abuse and it's palpably obvious that the guy has reached the end of the line. I mean, since when did Ricky Hatton even pause to consider his options? He was always a yes or a no man. The fact that he is hesitating with his answers is disconcerting. It's OVAH!
Hatton must have been hanging out with Calzaghe... http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/963857/Ricky-Hatton-drugs-shame.html
Ricky had a substance abuse problem when he was a teenager. It's called alcohol. Maybe the marching powder has played a role in the bloated puffy look and the bad skin. It's embarrassing, as a fan of his, but not surprising. He always had the discipline of a hedon.
The NOTW is a fucking cum rag. "Cocaine Shames", Wayne Rooneys "Shame" and "Phone Tapping Shame" is about their level. Not to mention "Fans Shame" after Hillsborough. A Murdoch owned Cum Rag. I wouldn't sell fish and chips in that fucking newspaper.
Even still... its no wonder Hatton and Calz are good buddies. Now we know when they hang out on the weekends, and say they're going to get "candy" we know they dont mean kit kats.
Haha that puffy motherfucker does look like some cokehead bar rat. I hope he kicks it, bad habit for an adult to have.
