Lots of invective and cheap talk floating around.......so let's cut it short with a simple PreDICKtion* poll Who wins? :dunno: ________________ *@opyright Sean Reed
We've already seen this fight and Peter hasn't done anything to deserve a rematch. Of course i'll pick Wlad but i don't care either way. It would be nice if there was a clean knockout and not a corner stoppage.
He got this fight by staying relatively active and relatively fit. If Ike Quartey had done this then he too would have got a great many more paydays. With Ike, it was always a question of needing more time to get into shape for the big fights he was offered, a la Winky Wright. Peter took advantage of the opportunity {Povetkin} by being active, in shape and, basically, signing the god-damned papers. Povetkin couldn't even manage that much. Don't get me wrong. I would much rather Povetkin to be in there tonight against Wlad. Peter is a far more legitimate threat to Wlad than Povetkin could ever be.
Your gratuitous frivolity aside.....Peter has more experience, not just per se, but against Wladimir too. Povetkin is smaller, less powerful, just as easy to hit and has an inferior trainer who cannot make up for Alexanders relative lack of experience. Have you cast your vote yet in the pertinent poll?
Well, I'm not sure what will happen. Wlad is going to coast to a boring decision, but will Peter quit before 12 rounds are up?
I don't know either. You see...those sentiments as expressed by you would be the material of a proper discussion thread....instead of the tripe that has been served up here recently.
In fairness to Peter, he pulled the plug himself the last time, and made no attempt to cover it up either. He repeatedly said "Stop".
Chagaev: dropped, cut, and stopped. Never won a round. Chambers, rocked, dropped, and knocked out. Never won a round. Those are his last two fights. The notion that he does "just enough to win"...is not accurate. Indeed, in the first Peter fight, a fight where he could have been forgiven for doing "just enough to win", he emphatically went for the stoppage in the last round, contrary to the orders of his corner. I hate to argue these points to death, and for people to think I am deliberately trolling or winding them up.....but it's not like the guy is the 2nd coming of Ruiz and is getting majority draws or razor thin decisions.
So the fight starts in a little over 4 hours, right? I know some of you aren't too excited, but I love me some early afternoon boxing.:shadow: I hope Peter gets his ass kicked, I hate his looping ass punches that only land on the back of the head.
Ha ha nice Avatar. I cannot believe nobody has picked Peter, considering how close he came to winning it the last time.
He never came close to winning anything last time out. He smashed poor Wlad in the back of the head. That's all he did..
Again...I hate to be such a cunt...but be broke through cleanly in the 10th with a big right hand. The knockdown was precipitated by Wlad's foot being stood on and then being hit, but the preceding panic and running by Wlad had been caused by a big legitimate right hand over the left jab.
Wlad does tend to panic a lot doesn't he But ya since then Wlad improved A LOT..Peter on the other hand knows his limitations by now....expect him to quit in the later rounds...
Maybe, maybe not. I seem to be entertaining greater reservations about the outcome than most other posters. However we will find out soon enough.
If I had any friggin' money I would straddle both men by KO. I bet there are pretty tempting odds on peter by stoppage going.
Well, unlike you, most of us recognize that a fighter can regress. He isn't always going to be the exact same guy as the years pass.
