You know this forum is dead when we're only about 7 hours away from a decent B.A.D. and theres NO threads up about it! Well in case anybody didnt know, or has forgot.... Gamboa fights tonight. But I'm kinda more interested in the U/C, only cause Peterson and Rios are two young, and undefeated lightweights, and its time to find out what Anthony Peterson has. I wont lie... about two years I predicted that by now A.Peterson would be ruiling 135. His career path has been disappointing, but he still is young, and he's not w/o talent and skills. Most ppl have always considered him to be more talented than his bro Lamont. I admit Ive never seen Rios fight before, but hopefully he's a good fighter and can test(maybe even upset?) Peterson tonight. Thoughts?
I'm really interested in seeing Gamboa again. When was the last time he fought? It seems like over a year. Anyway he totally dominated his last fight and I was really impressed with how effectively he was slipping and blocking punches with his gloves. I'm interested in seeing if those defensive skills he displayed are going to be a consistent part of his game.
Bob Paw-Paw is on the Mike....."Gamboa is like chef on the chopping board....he is fast elusive and shows a lot of power" What sort of kitchens has he worked in?????
I dont care how big of a cheerleader he is.... its clear as day that Bob Poppa cant hold a candle to Lampley.
Wow......Petersons life-story is being told. Again. In fairness, Paw-Paw is given shit to work with. These fights are like the shit leads that Williamson gave Ricky Roma in Glengarry Glenross. Very hard to do anything useful with them. Still no need to talk about fast elusive chefs on the chopping board, though :nono:
HBOs unofficial scale for this lightweight bout: 139 Peterson 151 Rios Hey look Margarito and Vargas. Think I'll root for Peterson.
Fight getting good in the 2nd, Peterson responding nicely to Rios turnin it up. Rios' punches seem real heavy.
Peterson cannot get away from those uppercuts from Rios...but IMO Peterson is killing Rios with those body shots...a few more rounds like that and Rios will be pissin' blood...
With Rios having come in some heavy, I can see him flagging and getting wider with his shots later on, as long as Peterson continues to promote this rate of fighting.
Peterson has the style that makes you think he is a decent defensive fighter...the way he covers/rolls with punches, but he is getting hit with pretty much every punch Rios throws. Rios throws a 5 punch combo he lands 4 of them....opcorn:
Or Rios will blow and Peterson will cut him up. That said Petersons corner are reading him the riot act and telling him he is blowing it and that he needs to go back to the jab. 2-1 Rios.
Peterson is getting WRECKED...and he doesn't know how to CLINCH..how the fuck can you be that hurt, survive...yet NOT clinch...:bangh: CLINCH MOTHERFUCKER!!!
