Apparently the shit talking farmer has hurt his poor back, which will force the fight to be post-poned.

I feel bad for Abraham. He's the only one is this joke of a tournement who has actually stayed healthy. Everyone else is fragile as hell, and has had to post-pone fights due to injuries.

And now we have to wait even LONGER to see Froch's annoying ass get KTFO.

2010 is by far the worst year Ive ever experienced as a boxing fan. From now on, I wont get my hopes up about ANY big fight until probably the day of the weigh-in.

You beat me to it. I'm looking forward to this fight, should be the best of the S6 so far. Not much to look forward too now in boxing until November/December.

I feel like a battered wife. No matter how much boxing hurts me, I love it too much to ever leave it. I cant for the LIFE of me get into that other sport of men grappling in homosexual fashion, so I'll go to my grave watching this sport.

Ditto. There's just no 'noble artistry' in crotch to crotch heaving, is there?

Just gotta take what we can get right now.....I even found myself enjoying the Wlad fight in my severely fight deprived state.

Shit happens. It would be trite to deprive The Fighting Farmer of the same opportunities that Dr Ironfist himself received, or that David Haye received, or that Floyd received in the run up to Marquez.

It does seem to be happening more and more though doesn't it? It feels like minor niggles that once upon a time would have been trained and fought through merit cancelations now.

Of course it's difficult to judge the fighters given just how devastating a 'L' is to their marketability and prestige these days.

    Bah hunbugger.

Yes.....the L is King these days. Lose and you are nobody.

12 years ago Ryan Rhodes lost to Otis Grant and then he took on a nobody called Laszlo something in England.

In the run up to that fight the commentary people were saying that "surely another loss would be it for Ryan".....

....the guy had ONE DEFEAT. ONE!

This could of course be just a coincidence that the tournament has had so much bad luck, but I think it could be that this format is too tough for today's training method's. Fighters trying to train hard all the time and face the best back to back in brutal fights seems to be too taxing and their bodies are giving in.

In the 50s and 60s fighters fought much more regularly. Back then they stayed in good shape all the time, while now the strategy is to get into absolute top shape for one fight and then let it drop for months. It could be that the guys in tournament are training wrong

Yeah. All the fucking time. So much so, that it makes an already thin schedule almost bare enough that I may be able to actually quit watching this shit.

Well you might have something to that, but it's not really like they're fighting more regularly in the tournament, it seems to be every 6 months or so as standard. The pressure of JUST how significant a loss is must be a major source of stress, though. A guy could afford to have an off day in the 50s and have it judged in a sane context and fight again 6 weeks later. Now it might be a 3rd of the fighting they do in 2 years making it almost equivalent to losing 5 fights in one night in terms of perception. And when you know you might be knocked out a tournament that potentially freezes you out from all 3 major belts that pressure must be magnified.

I think a tournament like this would work better over a shorter time scale with each man scheduled to fight every 3 months for the reasons we both bring up. Surely be more marketable too when fans can actually remember the series of fights without having to go back 2 years+ in their mind & fights are more regular keeping it more in the public mind.

Prime Don King would have had this shit done and finished 10 months ago.

Sure, the rankings would have been rigged, purses would be skimmed, fight managers threatened and the judges paid off...........but shit would have gotten done.

What the fuck kind of tournament takes 3+ years to complete? Instead of having the Olympics every 4 years, they should just spread one Olympic Games, over a 4 year span instead.

    :shit:

I wont lie....boxing is boring these days.

No young stars...the only fight worth talking about is May-Pac and it doesn't look like it's happening.

I don't know what to do with myself these days...

    Nice!

The only fighters making headlines are over 35 (in some cases..over 40). I mean this is ridiculous. Where's the young 20 some year olds that should be tearing it up and making good fights?

All I'm hearing about is Hopkins, Jones, Holyfield...and even the Klits are old men. Mosley still fighting..I mean what the fuck!

Even Mayweather is getting old now.

Very very sad state of affairs...

They were supposed to fight every three months, but they can´t stay healthy or have something else to bitch about. It´s really lame that Bernard Hopkins has kept himself in better health and shape over 20 years than all these allegedly professional fighters. They should be fighting every three months. It´s not like they are lining up world beaters every six months either. What a horrible year. :TLC:

Yup...the demise of Valero (including the murder of his wife etc) was most unfortunate to the sport of boxing.

What sucks even more is that the few young, good fighers we have are all BORING. Ward, Dawson, Dirrell, Bradley, Alexander, Conman..... none of these guys have world class power, none of them have any killer instinct, and all of them have dull ass personalities.

Contrast that to the 90's when we had Jones, DLH, Tito, Naz. All of them had dynamic talent, all of them had dynamic personalities, and above all... they all actually scored KNOCKOUTS.

Ahh, I sure do miss the 90's.

None of the modern guys have any joy in their work. Seriously. I get the sense with all the guy's mentioned they'd rather be pretty much anywhere but in a boxing risking getting punched in the face. None have any machismo or conviction & seem perpetually terrified of making a mistake.

Dawson's performance against Pascal for instance was the single most pathetic showing I've ever seen from a guy with that kind of raw talent. Just absolutely fucking pitiable. I still get worked up thinking about it.

Jones in his prime wasnt boring fans to death like Ward, and Bradley do. He was scoring KO's, and leaving fans saying "wow". I mean honestly.... a young Jones woulda iced that bum Allen Green in under 3 rounds. Yet "billy goat" Ward goes 12 uneventful, passionless rounds of grappling with him.

Killer instinct is dead the sport. And the FEW guys that still have it(Cloud, Maidana, Angulo) are all limited as hell.

Come on dude!!! I could just as easily say compare Oscar and Tito to Sugar and Tommy..........Oscar couldn't stop a fucking bus in most of his big fights and fought safer than a guy with 10 johnnies on against Tito!!
