Chael Sonnen's Q & A session with UFC fans was everything that people were hoping for, and then some. Here are some high points. On Anderson Silva: "Is Anderson here somewhere? I'll kick his ass from Austin all the way to San Antonio. "People keep saying, 'Chael, you're hyping the fight.' No I'm not. Hyping a fight is when I tell you guys, 'This is going to be a great fight.' I did just the opposite (before the first fight), and I'm going to do just the opposite now. This is not going to be a great fight. This is going to be him getting beat up for 25 minutes or until he gives up." "I think [Silva] is a great fighter, but he's not as good as me. He's not as good as Yushin Okami, either. He's not the best guy in the world, and he never has been. He's a sham. He's one of these guys that throws leg kicks. So what if you get get kicked in your leg? What a bunch of [crying]. Getting kicked in the leg and admitting that hurts is like admitting you're scared in the dark. It may be true, but if you say it, you're a real wimp." On Georges St-Pierre: "'GSP' had better pray to heaven above that 'Shogun' accepts my challenge because one of those two is getting beat up," 'If GSP said he wanted to fight me, the first thing I would say is the same thing I say every time I hear GSP talk: 'Dang it that guy sounds like a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse. That's the first thing I'd say. Then I'd say, 'Hey, GSP, let me ask you a serious question – do you have a designated driver? Do you have someone to get you home safely? Because clearly you are intoxicated. "'GSP, do you have a hankering for pain? GSP, did you lose a bet with God? GSP, bring your $3,000 suit, bring your $3 date and get the three-cent tan knocked off your socialist back.' If you see GSP, give him that message for me." On Brock Lesnar: "If Brock Lesnar was here right now, I'd take my boot off and throw it at him, and he'd better polish it up before he brings it back to me. Talking about he's the baddest guy in the UFC? Brock, quit eating so many raw eggs and doing push-ups because it's affecting your realm of reality. Are you kidding me? I'd slap you in your face, and you wouldn't do anything. "'I'm Brock Lesnar. I've got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest.' I'll shove it up your face if you get in Chael Sonnen's way." He also had a poem written especially for Anderson Silva: "Anderson, who you gonna send?" Anderson, think it through. There's still a few months before they lock the cage door behind me and you. Last time, they raised your hand, but it was plain to see I took a lot more about of you than you took out of me. I broke the mirror, and I blew away the smoke. Brock Lesnar would fucking MURDER Chael. It would be like a man picking on a 12 year old kid. Sonnen is out of his mind. I would take GSP over Sonnen too. Sonnen is a one trick pony with the worst sub defense in the UFC.
I'd like this a lot more if Sonnen was 25-1 or 25-2 instead of 25-20. Yeah, I know i'm a little off on his actual record.
I agree. But it has a lot more validity now than prior to the fight with Silva. Even though he lost, he beat the Top P4P guy for 4.7 rounds. He still lost but that ain't too shabby.
You guys take this way too seriously. He is just promoting himself. If it wasn't for his funny comments not too many people would care about this guy. Good for him.
Oh, I find him wildly entertaining. Hell, before the first fight I pushed TFK to sticky a thread with the "Sonnen Quote of the Day". And I picked him to win the first fight, so, yeah, I've got that going for me.:tick:
Classic Sonnen. The guy is a nerd. A nerd who can beat you up, but still a nerd. I love how he called GSP a socialist!! That was the best::
I don't think so either, but he was in almost everyone's top 3 before the Sonnen fight. Let's not be revisionist here. The Silva that stepped in the cage with Sonnen was considered by many to be the top P4P guy in the sport. It's always subjective, but it's not the least bit of a stretch to refer to Silva as the Top P4P guy when he fought Sonnen. Hell, even with the struggle in the Sonnen fight, he still freaking won. I would hold his record over the last 4 years up against anyone in the sport. And remember, he didn't tap like GSP or Fedor, he won. Aldo needs to do a whole lot more to be up there with GSP and Silva. How many defenses of the title do GSP and Silva have? They have basically cleaned out their divisions. Aldo has some work to do.
i didn't see that fight. did sonnen lnp on silva or do some damage? And was the fight exciting at all?
Very exciting and Sonnen did everything but LNP. He was even banging Silva's head against the mat while on top of him. Sonnen did what you're supposed to do when you're on top unlike fat cows like Conrad Kole!
