According to Amir Khan at least. Saw it on boxingscene that Khan confirmed it on his Twitter.

Hoping Maidana shuts this fraud's mouth up for good.:fightme:

I dont think Khan's people would take the fight if they thought he'd lose it

This kind of fight between two young exciting fighters should be on NETWORK TV....ABC, NBC...ultimate exposure to both fighters. More so for Amir Khan if he wins since he is cocky lil shit...

    Yep.

Roach must have seen enought improvement in Khan in the gym and enough footage of Maidana by now to have both the confidence and the strategy.

Credit to Khan him if he takes the fight without a pile of bullshit conditions thrown in.

If Khan get's hit he loses. You know and I know the only reason he took the fight was because Maidana looked average against the shifty Corley.

If he runs and powder-puffs his way to a decision I will give him credit. I will also call him "Boring" and all the other euphemisms that are served up around here for fighters people don't like.

Oh and I see Kevin Mitchell of the Guardian is no longer penning anti-Wlad pieces. He must have gotten tired of saying "Yeah he won BUT...."

I'll actually be rooting for Khan here. Madiana is a sloppy bum who's just lucky to have devastating power. If he doesn't connect solidly on Khan he loses.

I find that term is thrown around far to loosely today to the point where its actually meaningless. Maidana is no bum and is not just a puncher either. The kid can actually box. He looked crappy against Corley because he probably looked past him and nobody looks good against Corley. Maidana will land on Khan. There is no way that Khan is going to go in their and make Maidana look like a heavy bag. He's going to get his chin or noggin tapped. Then what? Nap time. Khan still does not move his head and steps straight back with his chin in the air.

Plus, for a puncher, Maidana has good hand-speed. He's not unlike Torres in that respect.

Khan's rationale will be that his size and his now pedamented speed will make all of this irrelevant. Khan is usually very good at looking good against small guys who cannot reach him or that he can overpower and beat down on.

What a surprise..."Khan will never take that fight!!!" "Khanz runnin from Maidana wat a pussy lolz"..

    Khan signs...

"It's only because of the Corley fight!!"

Fuck off, he took the fight, he is doing EXACTLY what he said he would do after beating Malignaggi, and theres still complaints. Unbelievable.

Also, I don't get where this "cockiness" business comes in? First off, he really isn't that cocky, just confident in his ability, there are PLENTY of boxers who are way more cocky than Amir. Secondly, why the fuck is that an issue anyway?

Props to Khan for taking the fight. I even favor him to win, he's going to have to fight smart though and keep his hands up all night.

I thank you for posting that video. Now let me explain myself. The first time I saw Maidana was against Ortiz and I came away as a huge fan of his. Then in his next fight he looked like a sloppy bum even though he stopped his opponent with a beautiful body shot. I thought maybe I was wrong about him in the Ortiz fight, but going off that video it seems he's not as sloppy as I thought so I retract the sloppy bum statement. Hell, I think I'll even be rooting for him after all because it appears how crappy he looked was a fluke and not the norm.

By the way I didn't get to see the Corley fight.

Some guys just don't get credit no matter what.

This is gonna be a great fight, i think Khan is better than Ortiz so it's going to be interesting to see if Maidana can get to him.

I think its a basically a pick em. I could see Con outboxing Maidana and winning a pretty clear UD, or I can also see Maidana closing the distance eventually and turning Mr. Twitter's lights out. The good thing about Maidana is that he's not the type of puncher that just plods around looking for one shot. He's willing to go balls to the wall and just maul and get ugly in order to land power shots. And thats what gives him such a legit chance here.

Watching that video of Maidana one thing sticks out. Opponents seem to react to his punches just like guys would to Margarito's. If you were to tell me another guy out there is loading his gloves my first guess would be Maidana.

Agree. A good fight to take for Khan, you cannot stay away from punchers forever. I am glad to see that he and/or his camp is confident enough in his skills to risk a loss against a solid opponent that can bang. That's how you potentially end up with a truly seasoned fighter who can actually defend a championship once he wins it. Khan probably should win, but Maidana's style, stamina, and power make this just about even in terms of picking a winner. Can Khan go 12 rounds and not get hurt by Maidana? Don't know.

If Khan wins, he should rematch Breidis Prescott and title it:
Prescott II - The Wrath of Khan

With one important difference: Maidana actually throws punches like a heavy-handed dude. When was the last time you saw Margarito just drop a guy dead with one right hand? Margarito flails and pushes his punches. Maidana actually seems a legitimately heavy handed guy.
