...is going to be shit hot in the coming years. Pascal, Dawson, Cloud, Cleverly, the Super Six fellas moving up, I haven't seen Bellew fight yet but I've heard he's decent, all before Chunky DeGale cleans up obviously, but it will be fun to watch.

Yep, Bute as well. Theres going to be some big fights in the future. If they can both stay unbeaten and win titles, Ward Vs DeGale has all the ingredients of a future superfight

I'm sure you'd prefer another Floyd thread.

    no.

Don't want to hear about Floyd or Pacquaio until they fight each other....

Sick of Floyd right now which is why I hardly participated in recent Floyd threads.

I get your point, but thats the way it is now, plus its better to sell to the casual fan if you have a champ of one division going head to head with the champ of another, regardless of whether it's an "established" division or what not, and lets face it, boxing needs the audiences right now.

Pavlik is done, trust me. The young guys at 168-175 will fuck his slow ass up.

Agreed. It is what it is. However we live in a world where welters are fighting at lightweight etc...17 divisions. Imo its bunk but to the casual fan I guess its ok. The little guys get paid peanuts compared to the house hold names. Bit of a cluster fk imo. Close the gap. I see your point though.

I agree, but he's a very decent gatekeeper, adds more depth to increasingly strong divisions. His style makes for exciting fights too, whether he wins or not.

Yea I get what you mean mate, I would personally prefer the traditional 8 classes myself too, and one champ.

This I agree with. I'd like to see him and Andrade get it on. I believe they're basically close to the same level at this point.

Ward, Dirrell, AA, Froch, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud would all beat Kelly's ass like he stole somethin.

True. So damn, how long was Kellys "prime" anyways? 9 months? Lol

Kelly's prime was from the Miranda fight, up until Hop mentally raped him.

It's the casual fans who need fewer weight classes, not big fans.

You guys are sleeping on Pavlik. Losing to Martinez is hardly going downhill.

Give it a year or so, and I would back Cleverly 100% to beat Dawson

I don’t agree. Boxing needs fewer weight classes. Commissions tried to sell the idea because of a false need. The only need was more sanctioning fees.

I think we need to eliminate the heavyweights, and the midgets. So just weight classes 122-190.

I agree. It's easy to be disappointed with Pavlik, given his inactivity, and then his loss to Martinez.

But what the fuck? If he's shot, there's certainly no conclusive evidence of it at this stage. The guy's lost twice! And both times to top fighters. And whereas one was 25 pounds north of where he'd fought previously, the other loss was close.

As fans, we can't say out of one side of our mouth that fighters need to take on the best opponents, and then out of the other side equate losing a fight to being finished.

The other thing that's hurt Pavlik's reputation is the subsequent losses that Taylor has had.

I think it's fair and correct to doubt (or even deny) whether Pavlik is as good as people once thought he is. But to say he's finished, or that he's a non-factor, because he's lost two fights? It's just stupid, and unfortunately, it's just another of many indications that boxing fans, in the end, get exactly what they deserve.

Not a gatekeeper in a division he'll never win a title.

Sadly, pavlik's skill set and power remains in tact...Hopkins ran off with his confidence.

If Dawson actually throws some FUCKING punches, he's a whole grade of fighter above Cleverly, IMO.
