Had Pernel Whitaker been born with Hearns type power, and Hearns with a Hagler type chin......

Which man would have been the best fighter ever?

If Ali had Shavers like power he'd be 54-0 (There would be no trilogies with Norton and Frazier hence two wins are removed)

If Tyson had never met Don King he'd be 170-0 (163).

If Whitaker had Hearns type power i think that would have made him too much of a different fighter. I doubt you'd see his defensive genius if he knew he had the power to take guys out with a single shot.

I think Hearns with a great chin would be a better choice. Although Tommy had tremendous power he could still and usually chose to box. Having a Hagler-esque beard probably would have changed his approach as well, but i don't think you'd see him coming out like Tyson.

Sorry, but some of the answers are just too obvious and most people will think of the same few names right off the top of their head.

    What about this one then:

Zab Judah with a higher IQ than a retarded 9 year old who also recently suffered brain damage from a shotgun blast to the back of the head?

    I'll go with a modern-day pick...

SRL rates considerably ahead of Floyd Mayweather Jr in an all-time sense.

Give Floyd the same fighting heart that SRL had, and not only does the opposite become true, but Floyd's claim to being the ATG has some validity to it.

not sure if hearn's chin was the factor in his losses against leonard and hagler. perhaps he also had stamina issues. it's not like leonard was hitting air all night in their first fight and it wasn't until the later rounds where hearns started to show weakness in the rematch.

against hagler, i thought hearns shot his balls in the first two rounds and succumbed to hagler's pressure.

    Nah...

Hearns was DOMINATING Leonard, After Weathering a Rough 6th & 7th Round...Hearns was OUTBOXING Leonard & Putting Round After Round in his Back Pocket UNTIL Getting Drilled Again, in the 12th or 13th Round...

Hearns DIDN'T have a Junior Jones or Augie Sanchez Type of Chin, but it WASN'T Much Better than that Either...How Tired did he Look vs. Benitez???...

Benitez didn't bring it to Hearns like Leonard did.

If Sal Sanchez never banged that hooker(said to be) and then tried to race home to get their before his trainer awoke...who knows. Best feather ever w/o question maybe.

    Oh yeah.

It wasn't his only flaw but possibly his most glaring.
