He didn't get one because his fight with cro cop sucked. Is that justified or not ? (Mir KO was the only KO of the night)
I think It's kinda bullshit or at least rename it to Knock out of the night but only if it's an exciting fight bonus
its a double edged sword here i understand where dana is coming from where even though it was 14:50 of complete boredom, 10 seconds of violence doesnt justify you making 70gs but on the other hand, it says if you are in a boring fight dont try and go for the knockout in the last round?
Fuck that. No effort was put into that fight by either guy. Mir is lucky that knee landed. If Mir Missed that knee he would have said oh well and continued to suck. I like that he doesnt get shit. Next time try asshole.
It sets a bad precedent though. Now if you've been in a stinker of a fight, there's no incentive to go for it.
I disagree that Mir went for it. He shot a lazy knee and got lucky. He nor Mirko were trying in there. They were both playing it pretty safe. They were both pretty content leaving it up to the judges. People were booing the whole fight. You dont reward that kind of effort.
Just to clarify, I didn't see this fight. I just think that if you offer a ko bonus and a fighter scores one, then you should pay it. Fight may have been shit but a ko is a ko. Otherwise, you can use any old reason not to pay. Why even offer it in the first place?
But the person that gives out the bonus is the judge of the KO. Mir deserved his paycheck and thats it. You get bonuses for going above and beyong. Mir didnt do shit.
Agree. There wasn't even serious effort or intentions on the knee that got him the knockout. It was almost like Mir and Cro Cop had an agreement that the show must go on despite Mirko's eye injury. But they weren't going to seriously try and hurt each other. I've never thought about it in any other fight, but that knock out looked staged.

I think Godfather added the last two lines. When I saw that it ended with "let's stay in the clinch" The Bonus IS called Knock out of the night, it's not just a KO bonus.

I don't care how much he added. This conversation should be grounds for neither of them getting paid. If this causes fans to think that anything or any part of the fight is staged or premeditated, it will kill the legitimacy of the sport. Personally I hope the UFC does something.
Talking shit is one thing. Chatting about an agreement on where to take the fight is another. To me it just demonstrates that neither guy is focuses on actually winning the fight but rather on safety first. I maybe reading too much into it I will admit.
