And I'm glad to see my boy Jake Shields is given some high regard.
That's a pretty solid list. I'd have Fitch in there somewhere. Brock being 5-1 and on the p4p list is pretty funny. I'd have Fitch above him for sure.
Dude, I agree 100% on Fitch. With the exception of GSP, who is the #1 guy, Fitch has rolled over the entire division in racking up a 12-1 record in the UFC over the last 5 years. When your lone UFC loss in 5 years is to the top P4P guy in the world, that ain't too shabby. Personally I'd put Fitch at #6 and move everyone down a notch which would knock Brock off the list. That is appropriate.
I'm not sure how you can justify that when he was forced to tap in less than 3 minutes in his very last fight. Can you really continue to have him ahead of GSP or Silva or Aldo?
I think Fedor has definately slipped a bit in the P4P ranking. But some are dismissing him a little too much. Being caught in a sub while dry by the best HW grappler in MMA is nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone knows that the next time they fight, Fedor will murder him. I don't understand why Silvas stock hasn't fallen as much after being beaten silly for 4 1/2 rounds by Chael "here's my arm" Sonnen BTW. How the hell is Shogun on there just from beating Machida?
Yeah i can. I watched the fight, and he made ONE tiny mistake in that fight. One mistake that cost him the fight. Its not like he got dominated for 4 1/2 rounds like silva or tapped to strikes like GSP. People lose all the time in MMA. The fact that Fedor hasnt lost in years and now all of a sudden does doesnt change it for me. And i also think that Sonnen chould be on this list. What he did to Silva was ridiculous.
For one, Sonnen tapped and lost, which means Silva is 12-0 in the UFC. Which is the logest winning streak ever in the UFC. Second, Sonnen tested positive for PED's. Do you think that had something to do with his "performance" And if you want to add Fitch, what about Gray Maynard, he did after all dominate Frankie Edgar and is undefeated and has 9 wins in the UFC. I guarantee he will be on this list as soon as the rematch with Edgar happens and he dominated Edgar again.
Maynard is close and I agree a win over Edgar (again) will put him on my list. Sonnen should be banned from the list based on PED usage. Who knows how many of his wins might have been a result.
If he beats Cain and JDS that just means that he probably did belong on the list. I don't believe he will beat either, however.
But it's a current P4P list. Recent results are huge, in my opinion. GSP tapping with Serra years ago isn't as relevant as Fedor losing in his LAST fight. And all it takes is one mistake in MMA to lose. If not for one mistake against Machida, Evans might be on this list. If not for one mistake against Silva, Sonnen is the MW Champion. If Sonnen hadn't tested positive, you can bet your ass he'd be on my list.
Machida arguably lost twice IMO. Evans is ok, but Evans and Machida do not even come close to Fedor's dominance.
I'm not sure where I said anything about Machida making a mistake. I mentioned Evans against Machida. And it was a relatively close fight until Evans got cocky and caught.
The first round was very close. I'm not sure it was close enough to score it for Evans, but it wasn't an easy round for Machida.
