Toney gets outworked, and possibly pummeled. He was at his worst/laziest at 175.

Toney is a tough guy to match in mythical matchups. he had the talent to beat a lot of guys: unfortunately didn't have the motivation to train for the fights. can't think of anyone who was surprised at how he showed up for the fight with Couture.

Well this is a "Mythical Matchup". If hypothetically speaking the Toney that fought Barkley showed up, he could UD Saad. But being as though that version of JT never appeared at 175, you gotta go with Saad.

The Toney that fought Barkley would thrash Saad. Only problem is that Toney never showed up at 175.

Neil said Toney would thrash Saad not me. "Thrash" is a harsh word. Toney at his very best could outpoint Saad IMO, but that Toney never showed up at 175 so I'd pick Saad.

Toney at his best would thrash that chap at his best. Toney was unmotivated and had a lackluster run at light heavyweight during that particular time in his career when he fought there. If you want to base this matchup on that then youre not taking toney at his best. And it isnt like Toney would be outsized in that division.

But you arent even considering how formidable a champion Saad was... some seriously excellent Light Heavyweights weren't able to turn the trick... I must have missed the part in Toney's career when he thoroughly dominated an A-level fighter

Well, the title says "... at LHW." I mean, I can see the argument if Toney's career ended at super middleweight. But the fact is that he never handled light heavyweight well. If everything were based purely on potential, Zab Judah would be almost as great as he pretends himself to be.
