A light heavyweight bout between Rich Franklin (28-5 MMA, 13-4 UFC) and Forrest Griffin (17-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) is in the works for UFC 127. UFC 127 takes place on February 5th from Las Vegas with the following rumored card… ~ Champ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort (for middleweight title)* ~ Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin* ~ Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones* * - Not officially announced
wow talk about feeding bader to the wolves but thats what i love about MMA and the UFC, people dont really get light touches, and losses dont mean the end of your career
Bader-Jones is main event worthy. Holy shit that's a great fight. This card is Super Bowl weekend. And to think that this past Super Bowl Weekend we got Coleman-Couture... This is a tad better!!!!
Hmm....so we have Franklin, Griffin, Bader and Jones all fighting on the same night. They could had easily put either veteran against either prospect....instead they are pitting their two bright hopes against each other. I'm not sure if they should be commended on this (More competitive fights - I think Bader has a better chance vs Jones than either Griffin or Franklyn, and the fight between the latter two is a pick em) ....or if questions should be raised about how UFC bring their prospects along. Certainly in Bader's case, i think a fight with Griffin or Franklyn would offer a sensible step up in competition that would be more beneficial for his career at this point.
UFC doesnt protect fighters. Thats how its always been. You learn much more than losing than you do from winning.
They protect them to an extent, but by and large it is a steep learning curve. I like it generally, and you're right you can learn a lot from losing, but losing breaks some fighters too....often depending on the manner of defeat. Maybe Bader will fare better than I am giving him credit for.
Griffin's last 5 fights: Ortiz Silva Evans Rampage Shogun :scared2: Yep that's protection all right..... TLC grows more clueless with every post....
An injured Shogun and Tito Ortiz are set up fights. Even the Silva fight was a calculated risk of a guy fighting someone a lot bigger than him. Backfired terribly though. The only reason he he even fought Rampage and Rashad were title fights. Now he was supposed to fight Jones and all of a sudden, suprise, Rich Franklin.
This has to be added to the TLC archive of stupid comments. Forrest has seen a murderers row of opposition.
I was going to say, he just fought Little Nog, Griffin and Franklin would be a step down. Jon Jones is the perfect fight, I love it.
Little Nog had a pretty bad training camp according to pretty many reliable Brasilian MMA sources, it really showed in his fight as well.
Jon Jones vs Matt Hamill says Jones will take Bader, but I do think Bader is a better all-around fighter than Hamill. Jones is the pick, but I will not be too surprised if Bader gets the win.
An injured Shogun? He injured his knee in training for the fight. When the fight was signed Rua was healthy and generally considered one of the top 2 or 3 LH's in the freaking world. He was a 4-1 betting favorite at one point. Silva a calculated risk because Griffin had a size advantage? LOL. Silva was only a fight removed from absolutely knocking the shit out of a 205 pound fighter. And again, Silva was a huge favorite.. Dude, you can try to spin it any way your little, moronic mind wants but there is no way Rua, Rampage, Evans, Silva and Ortiz even hints at protection. Do me a favor and pick 4 more dangerous fighters at 205 than Rua, Rampage, Evans and Silva. Give me the 4 fucking guys that Griffin was being protected from when he fought these guys????? What a dolt.
