Ok, so in case nobody got the memo, this is like the 2010 version of Vargas-DLH. Rios seems to have a personal hatred for Ortiz... anyone know where it stems from, and also who would win between them?

I heard rumors ranging from it being cause of the split Ortiz had from the Oxnard gym, to Vic fucking Brandon's girl.

Let them fight. Ortiz fucks that dude up. I saw Rios the one time...didn't think he was anything out of the ordinary. Good fighter but very basic.

we saw how well beef, anger and bad blood worked out for Nando. Unless he fought the Ross Thompson's of the world he ended up on his back everytime he talked shit.

First off.... c'mon now Muzse. Give Nando a lil bit more credit then that. He did clearly beat Quartey, and ran pretty close with a prime Wright. Nando was a very good fighter, who simply couldnt beat GREAT fighters.

Ortiz has a LONG way to go before he proves he's a great fighter. In his one true test... he failed.

I think alot depends on how good Rios chin is. He'd obviously have to take some firepower to get in, and Ortiz can definitely crack... and has fast hands.

If Rios could take his punches, and force a dog fight, he'd have a good chance. If not, he gets blasted.

As of right now though, I favor Ortiz. In about a year or so if Rios continues to develop, it might be a closer call.

    agREED...

Ortiz is a MUCH Harder Puncher than Anthony Peterson is...Rios' "Strategy" Consisted of EATING EVERYTHING Peterson Threw, Basically...He WOULDN'T Beat Victor Ortiz that Way....

Most Fans Seem to B DOWN on Ortiz Because of the Maidana Fight, but the Kid is Still VERY Talented...

Theres NO ONE in the boxing world who doubts that Ortiz is talented as hell. But it still remains that in his ONE and ONLY tough fight... he folded! Contrast that with a guy like Cotto... who had a similar tough war early in his career with Torres, and showed balls and came through.

Ortiz has yet to be tested since the Maidana fight. Antonio Diaz, Nate Campbell, and Viv Harris were all carefully chosen cause they're SHOT TO SHIT.

At least Rios just pummeled a guy who was young, prime, and undefeated.

What U Say is True, but Think of How Vitali Klitschko was Written Off & Labeled After the Byrd Fight...Victor Ortiz's Loss ISN'T All that Much Different from the Klit-Byrd Scenario & As Such, REED is RELUCTANT To Write the Cat Off just Yet...

Dude is what, 23-24 Years of Age????...

Vitali had a legit injury, Ortiz just got a legit ass whooping. There is a world of difference there.

    U're Right....

Vitali had like 1-2 Rounds to Go in a Fight he was Waaaaaaaaay AHEAD in, Against a TISSUE PAPER "Puncher"...Ortiz Tapped Out when a MASSIVE Puncher Started Touching him Up w/More Regularity, w/ 3-4 Rounds Remaining....

    World of Difference....

Yeah he still has time to redeem himself. As I said.... at this point it'd be foolish NOT to favor Ortiz, but I dont think it'd be a far gone conclusion that Vic wins.

I was reading the article on Rios yesterday. He claims that Ortiz even bullshits about the story he tells about having a hard life. He made a commenter about real fighters don't surf. I'm guessing Ortiz likes to surf?

Sound just like Vargas' envy towards DLH all over again.

I think in time they will both fight and it will be pretty good scrap. But I see Rioz just like Vargas doing the shit talking. While Ortiz like DLH doing the ass whipping.

I liked Rios when I saw him on his last fight but he is no more than a brawler. He comes across like Vargas that thinks you have to take punishment to be worthy of being a fighter.

Rios and Ortiz as 5 pounds apart so in time it should happen.

i just heard that the beef stems from when ortiz split and got danny garcia to train him. apparently they were friends up until then, and allegedly ortiz was giving tips to some guy rios was about to fight on how to defeat him. so that pissed off rios. also heard rios was getting the best of him in the gym for the most part.

Yeah this is why it could differ from DLH-Vargas. Oscar was actually a great fighter, who could deal with some pressure. Ortiz is a very talented fighter, who has dog in him. Who's to say Rios couldnt bring that bitch outta him again?

Granted... Rios doesnt have the one punch power that Maidana has, but he's still heavy handed enough to put hurt on Ortiz.

Good point. It'll be Ortiz' talent versus Rios' tough-guy style and superior durability. In all honesty I'm not sure who wins this fight, especially if it's true Rios was manhandling Ortiz in sparring.

Ortiz will never reach superstar level though. The manner in which he bitched out against Madiana was unprecedented. He not only quit but gave a long winded rant supporting the decision and explaining why he did it! I remember he used the phrase "maybe I shouldn't be getting beat up like this" which in essence is something a quitter would say. Oscar and Vargas would have never said something like that.

I agree about Ortiz which is why I never thought he would be great either.

But Rios is funny. I never heard anything about this beef. The guy has one fight on HBO against Peterson and now he is talking shit and I understand he is making the best of his situation.

but it looks pathetic just like when Vargas would talk shit about Oscar. I sense alot of jealousy in him. It's like he wants to make a name of himself through Ortiz. Just like Vargas with Oscar.

Either way they'll end up fighting at some point.

Vargas becoming a name had nothing to do with DLH.

He wasn't introduced to the boxing world because of Oscar.

But get real! He was obssessed with Oscar and spent most of his carreer calling him out. Everyone in boxing who knew both of them has told stories about so many incidents with Vargas trying to start shit with him for so many years.

Oscar always ignored him until he faced him and beat his ass in the ring.

The same thing seems to be happening with Rios and Ortiz. Difference is Vargas and Oscar were way more talented than these two.
