This would he the first time since I started watching boxing that someone I've never heard of gets a shot at the title.

Mine came at heavyweight when Carl Drumond challenged Ruslan Chagaev. I have actually heard about this Chisora guy, yet I do hope this does not happen

Well I almost posted saying the same thing....but then I'd never heard of Kevin Johnson ever.

    Who?

Fuck sake....I hadn't heard of Johnson or this new guy before they got shots. But you've trumped that with somebody I still haven't heard of AFTER the fact.

Worrying stuff. There isn't a guy from the 50s thru 90s I haven't heard of who got a heavyweight title shot, even at the WBO title.

I do not believe you had heard of Daniel Eduardo Neto from 90s (I don't count him since back then WBO was not legit at all).:kidcool:

Fair shout. Well the WBo from about 95 onwards from when it became 'questionable' rather than 'laughable'.

2nd that request. Every extra hit their website gets is doubtless an extra penny in their advertising revenue.

Just checked out this Chisora character. Decent fighter....., fights just like a poor man's Ike Ibeabuchi......looks like he can hit decently. Looks right about of Kevin Johson's level and is pretty similar in allot of respects. Needless to say he hasn't a chance. He shouldn't take this fight.

I used to hate Chisora but I've warmed to him recently. He doesn't stand a chance but at least he will give it a go, decent power and handspeed, (overly) ambitious. Will be fun while it lasts.

Chisora should take the fight because, frankly, he should be nowhere near a title shot and to be offered a chance is not much short of miraculous. At least he will come out swinging and will likely give an entertaiing account of himself for a handful of rounds before he gets brutally iced.

The problem is I don't think he'll come out swinging. He's too patient, he doesn't force himself inside at all, he waits for openings. Worst of all strategies against Wlad.

I have to admit, I never heard of Zeljko Mavrovic before he was announced as Lennox Lewis' next opponent in... whenever they fought ('98?).

Prior to his fighting Michael Moorer, I knew of Vaughn Bean by name but don't ever remember having seen him fight.

You guys sound like women showing up for soccer matches only when the world cup is on. You probably never heard of Vitali before, either when he challenged Herbie Hide for the title in 1999... If you're from the UK and have never heard of Chisora before, you might wanna get a new sport that you are suposedly crazy about.

This Chisora thing is a cheap shot from Wlad to make, or try to make, Haye look bad. Wlad is basically saying that he, Wlad, is fighting the British champ while Haye fumbles around with Harrison. I just hope it doesn't come back on him.

Chisora for his part has practically no big-time experience and his big-fight experience is limited to a brace of KO's of similarly-limited Sam Sexton, the very epitome of "British Champion level".....

...I don't know how hard Chisora hit's but I would pick him, right now, to lose to most of the guys Wlad has beaten up recently, if not all of them.

All of the regular UK poster's have already posted in this thread as regards Chisora... :dunno:

Anyway, this is a frankly baffling fight- Chisora is both a novice (about fifteen fights I think) and absolute garbage so far as I can tell as would translate to world level. He is likely to get himself badly outclassed, although you certainly can't blame him for taking his chance and indeed he should be commended for stepping up and having a go.

His winning, though, would be one of the greatest upsets of all time- I wouldn't back him if were available at 25-1 against (and I suspect he just might be priced up around that mark).

By any conceivable measure, this is a complete mis-match and a bizarre fight for Wlad to make.

At least Haye is making a shitload of cash by fighting Fraudly. That much is clear. If this is Wlad trying to make a point, it is a fairly ridiculous one.

yes but Haye doesn't care about money, he lives on an island and eats dried goat-shit and tried to do this to clean up the division, he is not into money, you see, it's about legacy and blah blah fucking blah.

Wlad is basically trying to show Haye that {a} Haye won't clean up at domestic British level so Wlad will do it for him and {b} this {beating Chisora} is what will happen to Haye if he ever fights Wlad.

The only reason people had heard of Rademacher was because he had been to the Olimps.

Chisora if nothing else will give this everything he has....he won't just be saying it for hype, he'll believe he can win this. He's got good handspeed, and looked classy at times vs Sam Sexton. But this is several levels above that.

Expect one or two publicity stunts from Chisora in the build up....he'll go down the Haye route in getting under Wlad's skin, but he'll actually try and back up the talk in the ring.

What's he going to do? Say that Wlad will be doing the A Route with Rendall Munroe when he is finished with him? Tell the world how he shocked Sam Sexton twice? Spin some yarn about how he was in a Robert Mugabe Tribute Band of child-soldiers?

    I think that, Chisora included, the Klitschkos have fought something like 5 former/reigning British Champs {Hide, Francis, Williams, Lewis, Chisora, }

This is the 5th past/present/future British Champ the brothers will have fought. In fighting Chisora, Klitschko now get's mentioned a bit more on the British scene, right in the build up to a Haye fight. I think there is a bit more to my line of thinking than perhaps first meets the eye.

completely agree. Only saw his destrucstion of danny williams, and it was about as unimpressive a one sided 2 round kayo win can be.
