So they give Ward 2 free points for Dirrell pulling out? He's now fighting Bika in November and it's not part of the touney. AA, Froch and Ward are guaranteed into the Semi's regardless of what happens in stage 3. The only bout with anything on the line is Green vs Johnson. Either Green or Johnson will be getting in with just one win. I'm a Glen Johnson fan and all, and I'm picking him to beat Green but it's weak for him to get in with just one fight. At least Green had to fight twice. I loved the concept of this on paper, but damn what a let down it's become.
At least we are getting some interesting fights. Ward Bika will probably be more watchable than Ward-Dirrell would have been. If Johnson at 168 isn't hindered too much a match with Froch/Abraham should be fun. It will also be interesting to see Ward versus either of those two. But yeah the original spirit of the Super 6 is dead.
Its fucked. Basically Ward get's 6 points for a win over Kessler, a win over Green, the sub, and a pull out by Direll. I mean...if the Yanks are that desperate for a Yank to win it, why don't they just nuke London, Rome, Paris, Berlin Moscow and Madrid and declare Ward the winner?????
Agreed. My only hope is that somebody else pulls out and somebody from fightbeat can step in collect a few bucks.
Oh please. Who gives a fuck how many points he has... Ward is at the top of the heap on merit. He fucking dominated the consensus favourite, and everything else has been out of his control. There have really only been two dominating performances in the tournament (Ward/Kessler and Dirrell/AA). Both won by black americans. :bears:
Bullshit. He has 6 points for 2 decision wins, both at home, with the second coming against a guy who dropped a decision to Miranda. 6 points for 2 decision wins. Square that any fucking way you want.
Doesn't change the fact that Ward is quite clearly the best fighter in the tournament. Really, who gives a fuck about the points. Ward is #1, clearly.
Right now, Hammerin Homicide Hurricane Hank Henry is considering getting down to 168 on my advice that he could take all of these bums on a moments notice.
Yes, he is better than Kessler, and is better than Green, who wasn't even part of the original Super 6 and is better than all those other guys he fought like........:dunno:
As the tournament is right now, the only correct way to continue is to Abraham and Froch fight and the winner of that faces Ward for the real championship. The winner of that should face Bute as quickly as possible, then get 15 voluntary defenses before Dirrell gets anywhere near the ring
The notion that Andre Ward could conceivably lose a fight and still win the tournament is utterly bogus. He should be made to fight both Froch and Abraham. Right now he has 2 fights but once Froch and Abraham are finished they will have had 3 fights each, 2 of them on the road. If Ward wants charity he should fuck off down to the Samaritans.
Really it doesn't even matter, Ward was making the semi's not matter who he fought or didn't fight next. Abraham and Froch are also both making the Semi's no matter what so one of them will be making it in with TWO losses and the other with one loss. The only fight with any meaning is Green vs Johnson. One of them will not make the Semi's. Once Stage 3 is over, points no longer mean anything as it changes to single elimination.
Abraham and Froch will have 3 hard fights under their belt. Ward will have 1. The 2nd fight he had was with Allan "I'll Be Your Substitute" Green.
The real travesty here is Green or Johnson making the semi's. Ward will have to fight and win two more times to win the whole thing. He will most likely have to fight either AA or Froch before it's over so what's the big deal? It's not Wards fault the thing fell apart. I will say Froch had the toughest road to the Semi's, he will have fought 4 times. I can see feeling for Froch, he got the shaft. All Abraham has is a win over Taylor and a loss to Dirrell. Can't feel bad for him, he's getting in based on beating up a dude who never belonged in the first place. Taylor was nobody at SMW.
[ Both won by black americans. :bears:[/quote] This thing was good boxing i liked it. its just too high of a level for these guys to bang on each other all year. by the way stevo when you cross the borders we are all just American and everyone hates us and G.W. Bush!!!:giggle:
