Ridiculous beating. I can't believe that neither the referee or the corner stopped the fight by the end of the 10th. Sadistic clowns!

As I was saying Sly, it was a life-altering pounding from what I could gather, and it seems Briggs is now added to the list of fighters whose physical well-being goes south in a hurry after spending an evening as Vitali's dance partner. The guy has retired more men than General Motors.

But what happened tonight was unnecessary and a travesty of non-combatants like Briggs corner living out some fantasy vicariously through Briggs. If they want to "back that bitch up" then maybe they should do it themselves instead of beseeching an utterly beaten man to absorb more and more punishment in the pursuit of an utterly forlorn cause.

Briggs had a look in his eye of a man who was in a very bad place and somebody should have helped him.

This has been made into a very cleverly disguised "Vitaly is better than Lewis" thread by Irish.

I've told people for years and years and years that Wlad punches MUCH harder than Vitaly....If that were Wlad teeing off on Shannon his head would be in the 20th row

Briggs is garbage. His opinion means as much as this fight did.

Oh, please. Klitschko retired nobody here. He either failed to knock out, or refused to knock out (I could go fifty-fifty on it. having watched the fight) a completely shot fighter who was never much to begin with. It was dreadfully unspectacular --- but then, that's par for the course, I suppose it's fair to say.

Let's not take a flight of fancy as far-fetched as Klitschko having, "retired" anyone here, though.

Sad to see Briggs ''performance'' tonight. Sure he never was elite, but he alway's brought intensity and danger into the ring. But tonight, he was just an harmless slow punching bag, just like he was vs Ibragimov and even though he won, he was pratically as inapt vs Lyakovich. I'll alway's wonder how he would have fare in k-1 had he continue. Sure, Erickson was a wrestler more than a striker, but still, he was very dangerous and the way Briggs oblitarated him was very impressive

they're not too far apart. Vitaly would give any heavyweight in history a run for his money, and would've beaten a couple of greats. The man knows how to use his height/reach advantage and has many other outstanding attributes.

Guys.... Briggs couldn't fight anymore when he was DOMINATED by Jameel McCline 10 years ago.

Yeah, except Vitali already fought an older, heavier, inactive Lewis and was brutally stopped on cuts.

According to the German broadcaster Briggs remains in intensive care for a badly swollen face and fractures above and below both eyes. Good job by referee Ian John Lewis and Briggs´ horrible corner. His team also say he had torn muscles in his left shoulder or biceps since the first round, which makes the decision to send him out round after round even worse.

As I said about an hour after the fight had ended: Briggs collapsed at the end of the 10th. How the referee missed it......:dunno: but he did and now Briggs is in dire condition in hospital with a broken face and the symptoms of neurological damage. As I suggested, the guy was just a steroid infused punch bag taking a hiding out there and his corner and the referee should get bans.

Dude...EVERYONE knows that Wlad punches harder than Vitali...that's never been debated. Vitali is just much tougher than Wlad and has more stamina.

Yet for all his lack of power he seems to retire guys in a fashion that Wlad never could.

Maxboxing are yet to pick up on either the fight or the fall out from the fight. They really are a rubbish bunch of cunts.

You really have a hard-on for Maxboxing. :dunno:

Much of that Vitali's stamina is based on his arm-punching. When you throw shots like that, it doesn't tire you out nearly as much as loading up on big shots. This might be another reason why Vitali "has not learned" to throw proper punches

I have a hard-on for websites and website staff that act as if certain title fights never took place simply because the complexions and the connexions are not to their liking. I am not asking for flowing verse or probing commentary, merely some acknowledgment that the fight took place, and an update on the medical status of the injured combatant.

If that is too much to ask in this day of uber-rapid communications, then fine.

Fuck Mexboxing. They would rather tell you about Jose Luis Antonio Galindez Gomez Rampartujong, the half-Indian half-Mexican super-straw-weight from Ciudad Nowhere, Meheeeee-cooooo.........:boring::boring:

Briggs rushed to hospital

Heavyweight title challenger Shannon Briggs is reportedly in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. Briggs suffered fractures below both eyes as well as a concussion, after taking dozens of hard shots from WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night, but is responsive according to RTL. He also suffered a pulled tendon and torn muscle in his right arm.
Briggs was rushed to the hospital after the fight as doctors feared a possible cerebral hemorrhage after observing symptoms associated with neurological disturbances and drowsiness.
Referee Ian John-Lewis, who has received criticism for not stopping the fight, said he was within “one or two shots” of stopping it. “It was a heavyweight world championship,” he said. “These are tough guys and as long as a man fights back, you have to give him a chance.”

Yes, this was the update I was looking for. It expands on what I already knew which was as follows:

I don't read maxboxing anymore, but it's always been an American west coast site. Seriously, Vitali/Briggs shouldn't be covered by anyone.

Although I agree they should be chasing the story now that Briggs is hurt.

Ref is an idiot. Briggs' corner was worse though.

If Briggs looked like he had a chance of winning the fight THEN let him take the punishment...but it was obvious after 3 rounds that he didn't even have a punchers chance of turning it around. In those cases stop the fucking fight!!

Now the dude is in critical condition. Evil.

Hang on a second. I am not asking for them to send journalists with camera's and lights and put them up in expensive hotels.

It's a simple digital expedient: write a pre-fight and a post-fight schmeer. Nothing major.

Now there is a combatant in hospital, a time when the boxing press is supposed to wheel into action and write all kinds of mitigating stories to protect the game before the "ban boxing" gang get in on it....and....nothing.

It's called WORLD championship boxing, not West Coast Boxing.

Cheers anyways.:Giggle:

Yeah. It's disgusting that a predictably one-sided fight would lead to this.
