Andre Ward's career, not him, his abilities, or anything like that, just his career, has been a disappointment to me.

After that little scare against Kenny Kost, before which they were giving lip service to taking a fast approach with him, they protected him and brought him along about as slowly and carefully as possible.

After four plus years in it, Edison Miranda was still considered a huge step up for him.

He has a great win over Kessler, but outside of that, I've been disappointed in the way his career has gone.

I was looking forward to a showdown with Dirrell, but that is just another disappointment.

I've never seen you so worried about Shannon Briggs before. Do you always get updates on his condition after his fights?[IMG]

I think it was a fair point. As soon as I saw some half-decent video the first thing I noticed was how he collapsed at the end of the 10th. Never good. And even worse when it seemed his corner/referee were not picking up on it.

Klitschko, 39, dominated all 12 rounds, but after about the seventh round the fight became a brutal beatdown. Klitschko (41-2, 38 KOs), with the best knockout percentage in heavyweight title history, continued to pound Briggs (51-6-1, 45 KOs), but neither the referee, Ian John Lewis, nor Briggs' trainers, Herman Caicedo and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, stopped the fight.

I am assuming it was Muhammad who roared "In your mouth, Klitschko" in the second round when Briggs got a good shot off.

I thought Briggs retired after being completely demolished by McCline 10 or so years ago?

Is there any heavyweight in history who coulda survived taking on the likes of Arreola, Gomez, Kevin Johnson, Sosnowski and Briggs and came out unscathed?
Yet, that's precisely what Vitaly did.

seriously, though, you have to give consideration to the manner in which Vitali beat those guys. he had absolutely no trouble with any of them.

What do you think is preferable, beating dozens upon dozens of bums, or having a single victory over a world class fighter?

Snap. That's what I was going to conclude on. For as bad as Vitali supposedly is, I don't know if he dropped a round to those guys. Has anyone ever defended a world title without dropping a guy over 12 rounds by a score of 120-105?:tick:

That is indeed amazing. Fighting 39-years old Shannon Briggs is a feat of bravery not seen in decades. I would say it's on par with fighting 41-years old Corrie Sanders for the title.

Ruiz would have destroyed Briggs last night

he would have roughed him up and tired him out, then KO'd him with the sneaky right in the 5th round

No, he wouldn't've....Basically because Ruiz would've never fought the likes of Briggs and Sosnowsky to begin with....He prefered fighting guys like prime Rahman and prime Holyfield......

Maybe when the standing 8 was in effect, but that's not what you are asking.

Hell, 120-105 seemed a bit generous to Briggs, I thought.
