This fight is scheduled on HBO, on the same card as Kahn/Maidana.

Great fight! Who do you think wins this? I'm hoping Peterson wins, but if forced to pick, I'd have to go with Ortiz.

    What do you guys think?

I think Ortiz will stop him. It is a good fight though, and the first real test for Ortiz since the Maidana fight. Problem is, Peterson doesnt have the firepower to dent Ortiz, therefore I think Vic will be aggressive and will fuck Lamont up.

I think it's possible Lamont could hurt Ortiz. Of the two brothers, Lamont is definitely the one with power.

A boxing card with two fights worth watching? Must be the first time in about 7 fucking years.

Well Lamont is the better of the Peterson brothers at basically everything, but he still doesnt have all that much power. HOWEVER, he is a good body puncher, which could bode well for him. But I just dont see him being durable enough to withstand Ortiz's firepower. If Bradley had world class power, he woulda stretched Peterson.

It is a very good card, and a great way to end the year! I'm thinking that Khan, and Ortiz should both come out with wins, but I'm hoping like hell that Maidana renders Khan comatose.

Peterson gave Bradley a pretty good fight. I'll be surprised if Otriz stopped him.

That's the only thing Ortiz has on Bradley. Overrall Bradley is proven to be much better than Ortiz. In the heart department alone. :fightme:

I'm just reluctant to pick Ortiz against any big name.

I'd like to see Bradley vs Ortiz. I think Ortiz fucks Bradley up. I don't believe Bradley has that great of a chin. he could possibly outbox ortiz but I don't see him hurting Ortiz.

Ortiz has so much power but tends to walk into shots...then again...so does Bradley. I watched Ortiz vs Harris the other night...before he stopped Viv he walked right into two right hand...caught him flush on the chin and he never blinked.

Granted...Harris doesn;t have the power of Maidana, but Bradley doesn't have the power of Harris.

LOL you dont think very highly of Timmy do you? I know you'd take Ortiz, Alexander, and Khan over him.

Personally I'd favor Timmy over Ortiz at the moment, but Ortiz certainly would have a good chance. Ortiz has a good chance anybody at 140.

Peterson doesnt have a fraction of the firepower of Maidana. And to be fair to Vic... he's beaten better fighters then has Peterson. Lamont has beaten NOBODY!

The Peterson brothers just dont have alot of substance. Lamont has more skill, and heart then Anthony does, but I dont think his chin is all that good. Not good enough to handle Ortiz's power.

I could see Tim outboxing him...using his speed but the main problem with Bradley is how wide he throws his shots. Ortiz throws STRAIGHT shots....right down the middle.

Look at how Kendall Holt dropped him...Tim wound up, lefthook cane inside and clipped him. he never saw those shots.

Plus, Bradley doesn't really turn over his shots. The wind up with his lefthook, ortiz counters inside that shot with his right hook all night...well not all night...Bradley takes a dirt nap.

You're right...i don't think Bradley is that good...he can slap you to death that's about all. Khan probably beats him too. Khan's got too much height and reach for Tim to deal with...plus he's the one guy who can run away and peck his way to a decision.

Tim's fight with Alexander will be interesting...might not be that much different than his fight with Peterson. I think you've got to be able to punch to deter Tim...not sure if Alexander has enough pop to do so.

I basically agree with all this. I dont think Tim is all THAT good either, but he is a good fighter. I'll reserve judgement on my Khan-Bradley prediction until after Khan-Maidana. I wanna see how Khan handles a guy who will reply apply high paced pressure on him.

As for Alexander-Bradley.... it really is a close fight to call. Before I was thinking Devon might pull it out, only because the fight was to be in the Lou. Now that the fight is gonna be held on neutral ground, I'll probably end up picking Bradley. But I STILL think Alexander could hurt Bradley with his uppercuts.

I'm glad that 140 is finally coming together. Ortiz-Peterson, Khan-Maidana, and Bradley-Alexander are all VERY good matchups. And all 6 of them involved deserve credit for stepping up. Lets just pray now that theres no post-ponements.

you guys are giving Ortiz too much credit.

Bradley has earned the top spot with Alexander by fighting the best at 140. To me that goes alog with talent.

Who cares is Ortiz has more pop or is very talented overarll? which I think he is by the way.

Ortiz had to think about weather he wants to take punches or not after the Maidana quit job. Are you kidding me? I haver never heard a young up and coming fighter say that.

So to me he has to prove that he can hang with the big names. No way will I pick him to beat any big name regardless of his talent.

Don't have a problem with your take...it's completely understandable. Ortiz could very well turn out to be a Mexican-Americamn Zab Judah. Loaded with talent, scarce in the brain department.

This is precisely why the guy interests me so much.

i dont think a guy necessarily needs to be a huge puncher to discourage ortiz. bradley has enough pop and he'd be in there working. to me that bout would end up like the sobbing scholar vs freitas. Id take ortiz over peterson though

Well its different, because while Zab lacked brains... he's always had heart.

Its Ortiz's balls that people question, not his brains.

But both are loaded with talent(Zab moreso in his prime) and are lacking in intangibles.

wouldn't say "always" had heart. That's a newly found adjective...namely the Cotto fight. he looked for ways out against baldomir and Floyd. Didn't look that great against Omar Weis if I'm not mistaken.

Also...forget the guy's name...before he fought Spinks...was up early then almost pissed away the last six or so rounds.

I think that was a aging Pineda who nearly defeated Judah.
