Just when all seemed lost, the Magic Man is back to save the day.

Yes, it had to be your experience.

Tarver at heavyweight is not a sign of hope. It's a sign that Tarver is too old and too lazy to train and cut weight.

Apparently you didn't read the entire article which explained he won his HW debut by unanimous decision using his experience advantage.

I'd like to see how he does against a Peter or Tua, hell, he could even fight Holyfield for the Legends of Boxing HW title

All the BS aside, Tarver did well to outbox a guy who KO'd Maskaev.

I fail to see why the HW division is worse off for guys like Tarver. It's like saying the WW division is worse off because it features guys like Pacquaio.

The truth of the matter is that the hair is thinning out on boxings head, and more and more guys are fancying their chances a few more divisions north than they would have dared tried in different era's.

Because Tarver is old and shot, whereas Pacquiao isn't?

Is Adamek old and shot? Haye?

I was making a general point, Tarver was but one of the supporting columns.

I think Tarver's probably aware that he can make more money at heavy-weight too.

Tarver would probably confuse the shit out of Joe Louis for a few rounds.

In the world of Joe Louis, 6'2" Southpaws only existed in cartoon comic strips and in the minds of twisted mad men.

No, they aren't, but then you won't find me whinging about either of these guys moving up to HW. They are legitimate and live (in the context of the present HW contingent) threats who were 'top dogs' at CW when they went up and so are worth considering.

Tarver is old, shot and has moved up because he has been chased out of his preferred division by better, younger fighters after having lost to the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Carl Froch...

Comparing Tarver's jump to 200+ to those of Haye and Adamek, and even more so to Pacquiao's move through weightclasses, is nonsense IMHO.

Tarver as a heavy is basically Michael Moorer as a heavy. Technically sound, southpaw, no power.

Yeah, except Moorer wasn't even in his 40s when he lost to Tua.

Tarver is to heavyweight what JMM is to weltwerweight.

Yet nobody complains when a 142lb JMM get's the shit smeared out of him by a 160lb Floyd.

This shit is happening all over. Personally, as I said, Tarver did OK for himself vs Nagy, and that's a plus. I never said it was a boon for the division.

Who did he stop at heavyweight?

    Bert Cooper?

    Frans Botha??

Moorer hit a lot harder at heavy than Tarver, that's principally why I was impressed with Tarver controlling Nagy. Moorer had a decent enough punch, just not "great".
