Jockeys are a lot like boxers in the lower weights. They struggle to get their weight down and often keep it down for longer than they should with drugs and other pills. I wouldn't be surprised if his heart was paper-thin from the dieting and the drugs.

Yes but how do they get into drug use? The usual pattern is you get a bit of ephedra for the weight, and a few painkillers for the falls and the training....and it leads on.

Most jockey's do some fucked up things to their bodies to make weight. Only sport I know of where Bulimia is encouraged with customized toilet bowls, specifically for that purpose in the locker rooms.
I have always despised horse racing. The one saving grace of horse-racing is that horses love to run and race. How anyone can EVER call for a ban on boxing as long as horse-racing is around is beyond me. Broken horses, smashed jockeys, drugs, cheating, fixing, people gambling their lives away, scams.........it is as bad as boxing and then some.
I've always said of Boxing, it's the second-most crooked sport in history --- with horse-racing firmly in mind.
I'd be very surprised if the fight still goes ahead. Heard the brotehrs were close, so last think Michael will be worried about is boxing.
GOOD NEWS for us as fans: Kat isnt pulling out! JMM might be in for hell now. Kat could take this loss, and fight like an absolute man possesed! And against an aging guy like Marquez.... that could mean an upset in the making.
he's got nothing to lose really. if he loses to JMM, he has a built-in excuse. if he wins, all the better. i guess it was just a question of whether or not he could physically go through with it, and apparently he feels he can.
i hate to be an insensitive jerk but lets face it. katsidis whole family could have suffered a terrible mutilation and it aint gonna motivate him enough to deal with a surgeon like marquez. that aussie is taking a terrible whipping regardless of who died. RIP to his brother
