WTF is Juarez doing at light-weight. I hope he KO's Diaz.

Big money and big ratings for this fight I think is why he's coming in at 135, provided that Oscar does pay these guys, that is.

He just may get Diaz out of there if Juan comes in and bangs with him early.

It will probably draw well at the gate, if that's what you mean by "big ratings."

Curious to see where on TV it lands, if at all. Not sure Diaz or Juarez have any credit left with HBO, nor do I see Showtime being interested in their careers at this point. From what Schaefer had to say about the fight and his expectations, I wouldn't be surprised if it wound up an in-house PPV, which would be pretty sad.

And all this is IF they fight.

If they stacked the under-card, I'd buy it. But I agree that as a main event, this fight would not interest HBO or Showtime.

That's what I was thinking, that they do another Lightweight-Lightening type card, since they're flush with fighters at 135 and 140.

I think I'll pass on this. One guy hits with all the impact of a pillow thrown at maximum velocity and the other guy seems to think he gets fined for every punch he throws. Yeah, this'll be a barn burner alright.

Juarez is a hunter!!! Enjoy him while you still can. He will hunt you down. Before that final bell rings, he WILL get in his licks. He measures, measures, studies and observes, and then he stages a violent assault. :fightme:

Yes, but he waits too long to let his hands go, and if you ever speak to him about it, he will agree with you.

There is no denying his power, but if you don't punch, you are not going to win.

He walks around about 135 -140, and there is not much size difference between him and Juan, so I don't think weight will be an issue.

He would surely have knocked John out in the return if he had just fucking punched instead of looking at the guy for eleven rounds.

Juan will be there for him to hit, and he can knock Diaz flat.

I don't know if he will, but I've seen him stop a couple of lightweights in the gym over the course of the past ten years or so, pretty fair lightweights, with one punch.

He had a top flight amateur trainer in Ray Ontiveros and has since returned on and off again to him after parting ways with Ronnie Shields.

I don't know about the guy, he has had more opportunities than just about anyone at a title, but hasn't been able to get it done.

Super nice kid, very talkative with a good personality, I hope he does well once he has hung up the gloves for good.

For ONCE and for only... I'll be rooting for Juan Diaz.

Juarez is a waste of life.

It's either Diaz by decision or Juarez by KO. I don't see any other likely possibility.

    I lean towards the former.

Juarez will hurt Diaz. Diaz cannot hurt Juarez. And Diaz will stand and trade with Juarez late in the bout...

I think they'll do 15,000 at Toyota for this.

Neil, I'm not as high on Mike Lee as you... ;-)

Ya know... if it was the Diaz of a few years ago, he'd beat Juarez's ass EASILY. But Juan might have declined to the point where Juarez has a good chance.

    I agree with you, X.

Boxing is not Juan's priority anymore, he is taking his preliminary law exam next week, and boxing is the only thing Rocky knows how to do.

You should get somebody to distract the ref and then hit Juarez from behind with a steel chair. :bears:

Money can change that, and that's the bottom line with Juan.

I do want to take a look at Rigo, though, Mike.

One of the top Cubans ever, and there is no bigger fan of theirs than me.

The Cubans are, and have always been, professional fighters; so it's not like this shot is coming for an inexperienced kid, he is a hardened pro.

Depending on the Undercard, this would B a Main Event that REED MIGHT Make a Roadtrip For....

Whatever, but Juan has made some contradictory statements throughout the years, folks.

He is a great person and fighter, a credit to boxing, but money is the bottom line for him and his manager, as it should be.
