Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago Tito Ortiz vs. Matt Hamill Brendan Schaub vs. Gabriel Gonzaga Great great card. Lets see your picks.
I am starting a Jake Shields bandwagon. I guess your uninformed ass does not wish to be on it? :giggle::giggle:
made that pick more out of a hope i dont like jake shields most boring fighter ever, dont think ive ever seen a guy have another guy mounted for 4 straight rounds and not finish the guy
Kampman can definitely beat Shields. As long as the fight is standing, Shields is at a disadvantage. His striking sucks.
Thiago has only lost to Fitch and Kampman. He dominated Swick and KO'd Koscheck. How is he a joke? Diego got straight up raped in his last fight against Hathaway. He's gotten shit kicked in his last two fights.
I will say this, I was high on Hathaway after he man handled Sanchez. And following Hathaway's one-side loss to Pyle, I am really questioning what Diego has left. The other issue is weight. Is Diego better at 155, 170 or way back up at 185 like he was during TUF? All I know is he looked weak as shit back at 170 against Hathaway. So, no, I don't think picking Thiago is a stretch at all. Personally I think Diego will win, but I am expecting a good scrap. The biggest reason I'm picking Diego is because he is almost impossible to submit or knockout. 25 fights against good competition, and the cut stoppage with Penn is the only non-decision loss on Diego's resume. Another point to remember is that Hathaway caught Sanchez with a monster knee in the first which I don't think Diego ever shook off in that fight. If he doesn't run into a similar issue with Thiago, I think Sanchez is more well-rounded and can get Thiago out of there. And you know Sanchez is going to be hungry.
I don't doubt it will be a good fight, but calling Thiago a joke is just plain stupid. He's a good fighter.
Brendan Schaub +155 Gabriel Gonzaga -190 Diego Sanchez +100 Paulo Thiago -130 Tito Ortiz +120 Matt Hamill -150 Martin Kampmann +175 Jake Shields -220 Cain Velasquez -105 Brock Lesnar -125 So on paper betting wise it goes like this Jake Shields (given most likely chance to win) Gonzaga Hamill Thiago Lesnar Cain Sanchez Ortiz Schaub Kampman (least likely chance to win)
it is a great card. I would rather have someone besides Tito fighting on it, but I'll take it:: Lesnar Shields Thiago Hamil Gonzaga
Great night of fights. Not calling some of these with a hell of a lot of confidence, testament to the quality of the line-up: Cain TKO Shields SD Thiago UD Hamil UD Shaub KO
Even though I picked Cain, I fully expect Lesnar to win. I just WANT Cain to win really badly. I think Lesnar's a meathead asshole.
