09 Nov 2010 Green to protest loss The team of Allan Green has formally notified the Nevada State Athletic Commission of their intent to file an appeal of referee Robert Byrd’s decision to call a halt to his Super Six bout this past Saturday evening against Glen Johnson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Johnson was awarded a knockout victory at the close of the eighth round. Green went to the canvas after being on the receiving end of what he and his team feel were rabbit punches. Boxing attorney Josh Dubin has been hired to handle the appeal. Dubin is known for successfully overturning Timothy Bradley’s knockout victory over Nate Campbell to a no contest. The appeal will be filed by the end of the week, and the rules of the NSAC entitle Green to a decision within sixty days of the filing of his petition. See that Reed you were right all along to have an Allan Green bandwagon. Allan Green was cheated out of his victory this past saturday
I know. He's a baby. And not good at boxing either. What's crazy is the way everyone had that fight scored at the time of the KO. Johnson was winning that fight easily. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Johnson beat Froch and/or Abraham.
Christ! I'm getting really tired of guys ducking their head into punches or turning their backs to their opponent, and then complaining about getting hit on the back of the head. :shit: Marquez was pulling similar shit against JuanMa, but in an offensive position instead of a defensive position like Green.
Green is such a fucking BITCH!!! He had to chances in the Tourney...first time he got completely dominated by Ward...12-0...easy work....then the 2nd time around he was being punch around by a dinosaur. After a few rounds he had the "i want to quit, I want out of here" expression on his face and body..
It would be cool. All the fights, all the time, and all the issues only to have the 107 year old Johnson win it, would be bad ass.
Yes it would be. Johnson has a huge heart and is a pretty damn good boxer. Hell he is better than Roy Jones Jr. and people were talking about Roy back in the day like he's one of the best ever. So funny. Little did they know he wasn't even as good as good old Glen Johnson
You'd be one of very few. No miracle if Johnson beat either, but far from likely. I suppose he could outwork Abraham, but he'd have little to no chance against Froch.
As much as I hate the fact that Green and Johnson were even allowed into the Super 6, I would still laugh my ass off if Glen won the whole damn thing. WAR OLD MAN GLEN!!!
Froch's chin is no better than Greens. Jermain Taylor had him hurt bad. I could see Johnson stopping him and everyone else int he tourney for that matter. Johnson is now the dark horse in this thing.
I hope Green wins this fight on DQ, then pulls a Dirrell against his next opponent and again wins by DQ and takes the whole tournament:dancingBaby:
He could then retire as the greatest super middleweight of all time. Nothing further to prove. :bears:
What's hilarious is Green probably would've gotten the decision if he just managed to stay on his feet, because let's face it, the only thing that could marginalize the Super 6 more than having a 41 guy in it is if he managed to win it.
I agree. Johnson's work-rate, chin and stamina (assuming it's held up) would present serious problems for either guy. Abraham has to seriously hurt him to beat him. And Froch? He could out-hustle Johnson, sure. But it'd be close.
$50 I get Ward, Froch, or Abraham against Glen in the next round. Any takers? I'll take the first 2 who step up. And keep in mind that I may get the loser of Froch/Abraham.
Great chance? Care to define that in percentages? I think he stands little chance against any of them. Ward is simply too fast for him and just as good at the clinching and punching as Glen. Froch and Abraham are not only harder punchers than Cloud, they are also two of the best finishers. Rarely will a guy see the final bell, once they have him hurt. Johnson was hurt badly on a few occasions against Cloud. He´s not making it out of a round like that against these two. While Glen was slowly breaking down Green, he also initiated a lot of the clinches to save energy. Something we have seen against Woods III (and every single round from 10-12 was grounds for a straight DQ in my eyes), Cloud and now against Green. I think the best chance he stands is against Abraham, because he fights at a slower pace and doesn´t really like the roughhouse in the clinches, but if Cloud can hurt him with his clubbing blows, Abraham can do him worse.
