Round 3 cause his friends had bets on a round 3 ko.

    Is that legal?

Strictly speaking, a successful prosecution would be practically impossible.

However, it proves Haye has the IQ of a brick, or, at the very least, it proves he thinks we have the IQ of a brick.

I think he was scared, then he finally realized that Audley was not going to extend his arm

What could possibly be illegal about it?

It's not like he said he bet on himself, just his friends bet on him in round 3.

What would draw the attention of the BBBofC or the CPS etc is that Haye is supposed to begin as he means to continues: if he is looking to win at all times, and then makes a comment that he was not looking to win till the third, well, then it could be said that he was effectively breaking the rules of boxing with a view to effecting a particular result at the bookies.

It is akin to a soccer player playing for a strong team against no-hopers who intends to score no earlier than the 10th minute to facilitate a bet, get's a penalty in the 5th minute, and deliberately misses it. The fact that he extends himself from the 10th minute on, the fact that he does in fact score later on, the fact that the result was a foregone conclusion, does not at all mitigate the earlier "fraud".

What makes it impossible to prosecute Haye is {a} how do we know he really means and, more importantly {b}- all Haye has to do is show he had friends who had money down on him to win in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, etc.

It's a big nothing, uttered by Haye to make himself look good in light of pretty farcical happenings.

And its not like he is stating anything other than opinion that he could have KOed him at anytime. So i agree its not illegal

    Exactly.

Let's say Haye let it go on to make money for friends.....for openers, it would attract the attention of the BBBofC more than it would the WBA, GMP etc.

Haye shouldn't have said anything. But we know he is fick so WTF.....

I bet the bookies are not happy about that.

Isn't him stating this an admission of guilt?

How is this any different than the 1919 Blacksox throwing the World Series?

What Haye claims to have done may well not have had any difference to the final result, per se.

That doesn't make sense. If I shoot someone and they live, the final result is the person is alive, but that does not mean that I didn't try to kill them

Haye tried to impact the final result in such a way that he could profit from that result. Whether the act of him trying to carry Harrison to the 3rd and end it in the 3rd had any difference in the final result seems a moot point. Seems corrupt, if not illegal to me.

I also just saw his post-fight interview and at first he said he had a lot of money on it ending in the third round and then quickly corrected himself to say his friends had a lot of money on the 3rd round.

I bet money on a 3rd round KO win for Haye, but actually didn't know that he told people to bet on the 3rd round haha.

Why wouldn't it be legal if he won? If he took a dive, it's another story.

Because he is supposed to be trying to win at all times. Letting rounds go by and not trying...well...figure it out. The bookies lay odds on the understanding that, realistically, certain outcomes are more or less likely to occur. As I said I think it would be impossible to prosecute him for it, if for no other reason than because he is full of shit and cannot be trusted anyways.

I don't think fighters are under any obligation to try to knockout an opponent, only to try to win the fight. Imo, there is nothing wrong with Haye's statement or actions. I don't believe there would be anything wrong if he bet his entire purse on a 3rd round ko, either.

If the opportunity to score a KO showed itself in rounds 1 and 2 and Haye deliberately let it slide with a view to trying again in round 3, then, on the face of that alone, Haye is in trouble.

As I say, nothing will come of this.

It can't be proven either way. Even Haye's statement isn't enough to go on.

Which is precisely why he made it. The truth of the matter is that it took Haye 6 minutes to realize that Harrison had not shown up at all. Once he realized that, he felt no compunction in going for it, and Harrison duly obliged.

I watched the fight on Youtube last night.

Harrison's purse should be with held. The muthafucka didnt throw ONE punch in the goddamn fight!

  22. Xplosive

Indeed. It was worse then Seldon against Tyson. I mean at least Seldon threw a few jabs. Harrison threw NOTHING.

  23. Ugotabe Kidding

I would give the nod to Harrison since he actually got punched pretty hard, Seldon went down from a shot that missed by a foot. And Harrison did land ONE jab, they even replayed it

Did anyone feel sorry for Harrison?

I admit, seeing him after the fight in the changing room looking devastated and totally lost, made me think for one second, I feel sorry for this guy.

But he still came out with excuses to his defeat and continued to say what his plan was during the fight. He then said his mission is still incomplete.
Now in my mind i'm thinking, Dear God no, he's surely not going to continue to aim to win the World title, is he.......

I think he's still abit delusional.

  25. Xplosive

    No.

  26. Ugotabe Kidding

Ugotabe Kidding WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I can see why someone would feel sorry. He probably truly believed he could win, then inn the ring he just couldn't get anything going, much like Henry Akinwande against Lewis. He didn't pull a Seldon and lose on purpose, he simply froze completely.

That being said, it is not a good reason to feel sorry. He is a fighter who fought at championship level (sort of) and his performance is judged compared to that background. Fact is, it was among the worst showings ever and there is noone else to blame for it

Harrison should be put on suicide watch. After all the talk, the "yes I can" shit, to actually deluding himself into thinking he has the support of the British public and then have a whole arena chanting "you're shit and you know you are". And then your opponent giving you the most condescending round of applause as the whole arena makes it clear they think you're basically a cunt... damn man he is going to be in a right state. He looked a broken man in the dressing room, he won't visit London again

  28. Xplosive

Harrison wouldnt kill himself. Even if he put a gun to his head... he'd be too scared to pull the trigger.

In all seriousness the dude looked broken, he's a fool but he seems like a nice bloke, he just ain't a boxer. He should just spend some time with his family and just fuck off.
