While Most Seem to ALREADY B Penciling In Sugar Shane (if Negotiations w/Floyd Mayweather Fall Apart Yet Again) as Manny Pac's Next Opponent, Bob Arum DID Mention Juan Manuel Marquez as ANOTHER Possiblity... Pac-Marquez III, Anyone???...& if, If, IF it Happens, would it B More the Same or a Drastically DIFFERENT Fight???.... REED:dunno:
Marquez is regressing. He also has none of the effectiveness of Pacman at the higher weight. Should not be made. Not sure of the Sugar Shane situation either.
If Pac has a NEMESIS, it's Quite Clearly JM Marquez...U Don't Think he Has JUST Enough Left, @ Say 140 lbs, to STILL Give Pac Stylistic Problems????...agREED that a Sugar Shane Fight (Who was In Attendance AND @ the Post-Fight Press Conference, by the Way) is Weak, but there's Enough HISTORY btwn Pac & Marquez, where REED Wouldn't Mind a 3rd Fight @ All.... REED:dancingBaby:
I will say that JMM is the best offensive fighter Manny could face outside Berto and south of Williams. That being said, Manny just dominated a guy that was 5'11" and 165 pounds. Feeding him someone his own size would be criminal.
Arum mentioned Mosley? Or was he responding to question specifically about Mosley? Because my guess is that Arum will try to steer clear of Mosley, given that he's promoted by G. Then again, so is JMM. To answer the question, I think it's pretty clear to all that while Pacquiao can be dominant at 147 and has carried his speed and his power up with him, that JMM, in addition to being long in the tooth at this point, isn't even a full sized light-weight, let alone a legitimate welterweight. Pacquiao blows him out of the water at this point, assuming it would happen at 147. JMM just isn't strong enough at 147 - he's a featherweight who's managed to win titles at 130 and 135 because he's so damn talented, disciplined and brave.
At the Post-Fight Presser, Kevin Iole Specifically Asked "So who's Next for Manny?"...Arum Said they'd First Pursue the Mayweather Fight Again, but then he Said "Sugar Shane Mosley is a Possibility, as is Juan Manuel Marquez." 10 Minutes Later, Sugar Shane Showed Up @ the Press Conference w/James Prince...He Didn't Say Anything, but his Presence was IMMEDIATELY Felt....REED HADN'T Seen Mosley @ the Fight or Anything (& his Face was Never Shown on the Jumbotron from REED's Recollection), but there Shane was, Minutes After Arum Mentioned him.... REED Thinks it'd B Feasible to Do Pac-Marquez III @ 140...Hell, Pac Officially Weighed 144 for Margarito.... REED:kidcool:
That wouldn't be fair to Marquez. He would get destroyed this time. pacquiao has been a comfortable natural WW for a long time, while Marquez looked small even at 135 lbs.
I think for everyone's sake, Pacquiao should steer clear of Berto. All it takes is one stinky ass spurt fighter like Berto to disgrace the sport on a world stage.
Marquez is just one of those fighters that seems to have the perfect style to counter another fighter. Despite the fact that Manny is 1-0-1 against him he does sort of seem to be Manny's kryptonite. But I just can't envisage him even being that competitive with the 140/147 pound Manny. He is clearly nowhere near as suited to the higher weights as Manny. Right now Manny is a ridiculously fast powerhouse at welterweight. I think Marquez still wins a couple of rounds and gives Manny some problems, but gets destroyed in around 7 rounds.
Berto DOESN'T have the CHIN or SKILLSET to Beat Manny Pac...It'd B Interesting while it Lasted, but Pac STOPS Berto Late, in REED's Opinion... REED:mj:
Thats a pretty good idea, and neither one would have a snowball's chance in hell. Neither one has enough firepower to bother Manny, both are relatively easy to hit, and neither one would have a size or strength edge. Manny would smoke either one of them inside of 6.
I like Kat, but if he wins(which is possible, but unlikely).... all it will prove is that JMM is washed up.
Why would Mosley fight Pacquiao? He'd have to be either terribly broke or terribly deluded to take that fight. One thing he definitely is is washed up and it would be criminal to put him in the ring with Pacquaio especially when you consider how much Shane loves to brawl and how much pride and durability he has which screams prolonged beating.
I really don't want him to fight Shane. That would be brutal. Mosley would actually do ok in the first 3 rounds or so, then he'd start to take a 1 sided beating. Being that Mosley is very tough, it would be a long, sustained beating too.
If we want to see a Pacquaio spectacle, and see him dismantle another FIGHTER, then put Mosley, Marquez in there with him. Right now Berto, or winner of Alexander-Bradley don't make BUSINESS sense. Only Mayweather, Williams-Martinez winner will have Pacquaio in any kind of jeopardy.
I wanted to see the 3rd fight with JMM 3 years ago, now it's not the same. It's still a better fight than with Shane though.
TBH, if the Floyd fight can't be made I'd as soon both men just retire. There's nothing esle out there that won't be a resentment stoking letdown.
