Lamotta might be a tall order for him, but theres absolutely NO DOUBT that he'd have beaten Basillo within an inch of his life.

I love how Basilio has somehow magically been re-created to suck on this site

Basillo was slow, easy to hit, and would have no HUGE size edge on Manny. Please explain to me how he wins?

Carmen was made in heaven for Pac.

both are too slow and pacquiao won't sit down and trade like Ray Robinson did.

Basilio was so slow and easy to hit that he whupped the asses of a bunch of terrific fighters

Basilio was not Arturo Gatti, he was a GREAT fighter

What blinding handspeed having SOUTHPAW, with power in both hands, punching in combos from all diff angles, with a good chin, and endless stamina did Basillo ever FACE, let alone beat?

    I'll wait.

And Basillo was relavtively slow and easy to hit. Those are facts. And you simply CANNOT beat Manny with that type of style.

Bastillo gives Manny some rough moments, but for the MOST part takes a wicked beating, and more importantly gets his face ripped off.

Lets not forget Basillo was only 5'7". He'd have no significant size edge over Manny.

if Basilio was THAT shitty, then Ray Robinson, Kid Gavilan, Gene Fullmer, Tony DeMarco, Johnny Saxton were all pretty goddamn ordinary or by some incredible coincidence all just happened to fight far below their actual abilities when they fought him

what welterweight has Pacquiao fought that is comparable to Basilio? who has he fought who could press like that and was anywhere near as durable?

    it goes both ways

Great as Ray Robinson, and Gavilan were lets be HONEST.... neither one punched from the angles that Manny does, and neither one was a southpaw.

Theres a number of welters in history that could beat Manny.... but Carmen Basillo sure aint one of em!

Im sorry, but beating up DLH and Margarito does not convince me that Pacquiao would have a field day against Basilio... Basilio would be the toughest and most relentless fighter Pacquiao ever faced by a mile... NOBODY had a field day against him, and he fought some spectacularly good fighters... there is no way you will ever convince me that pacquiao would beat up Carmen Basilio... could he win? sure, possibly... but in dominant fashion? hell no

Have to side with CDogg on that one. You don't give those guys hell & then become fodder for Pacquiao...or anyone, really.

Basilio is no one's whipping boy.

    you are a fucking dolt

other than Basilio being a white guy from before you were born, you have absolutely NO reasoning behind it... all you have is your idiotic assumptions

Basilio was NEVER "Butchered" by anyone... Gene Fullmer, a BIG middleweight with heavy hands, chose to fight off the back foot against Basilio and take advantage of his aging legs rather than fight him at close range (out of respect for Basilio's toughness and his superb close range abilities) and it still took him 14 and 13 rounds to stop him (on his feet by the way) in close fights ... before that, nobody stopped him... and no one came within a thousand miles of "butchering" him or even winning a one-sided decision... you dont have a single fucking fact to support your observation, just wilful ignorance
