So the fight is now happening 2 years after talks for it began? That's the most pathetic news in boxing in quite sometime. Talks began in 2009.

The two most dominant fighters in boxing weren't able to get their shit together in 2 years and fight each other. What a letdown for boxing fans!

 

It would legit be one of the best nights of my life. I don't have words for how fucking exciting this fight is.

 

I'm not buying it. He will come up with 20 stipulations that must be met before the fight happens.

I'm not sure what I'll do for it. I don't think i'd wanna watch it with a bunch of friends who don't understand it's significance. Having said that, of course I want to see the fight. Although it would be monumental suckage of epic proportions if Flid wins.

 

Thankfully, neither of them lost or looked bad. The fight is even more significant now with the wins over Mosley and Margarito.

Talks began less than a year ago in December 2009, as I remember. It's pretty unlikely that it will be 2 years from that point if they fight in 2011. But just use 2009 generically if you want to bitch and if it is the 2nd half of 2011 when they fight, you can round that up to 2012 to make it 3 years. :blackcloud:

If one of them shows up slow of foot or rusty, it will definitely look bad. The potential for that grows greater everyday.

Bottom line: it should have happened before now and DEFINITELY before 2011.

 

The more I see Pac fight, the less chance I give Mayweather. All I know is Manny will make Mayweather fight like he's never had to before. His workrate, his speed, his power, seemingly endless stamina, his ability to take a punch from a significatly bigger fighter, it's all adding up to Floyd taking a whooping to me.

 

There was a gag order on the negotiations in November 2009, and the bout is unlikely to happen until May or June. Negotiations have broken down a few times already.

So more than a year and a half will have elapsed. If negotiations break down again, which they have at least twice before, even more time will have elapsed. Is that 2 year figure starting to make sense to you?:dunno:

 

The delay of the fight only hurts Floyd more than it does Manny. The delay was caused by Floyd, so he'll have no one to blame but himself.

What can't be argued is that the fight is less significant than it was before because it's not. It's more significant now with the last fights of both under their belts.

Don't be fooled about the March 2010 date, Arum never wanted the fight for that date, since he wanted the event at Cowboys Stadium. I believe Arum finally wanted the fight for November, but then Floyd didn't. Both sides are equally wrong.

Arum never wanted Pac or Cotto for PBF until after he had them fight one another, anytime he said so before that was just posturing.

 

If Floyd shows up slower or rusty, he will have cheated the fans out of seeing him fight Pacquaio closer to his prime. We want to see them at their best.

 

The fight was only in serious discussion for less than a year. First fall through was Arum's fault, 2nd fall through, Floyd's.

There isn't too much of a delay to blame if either fighter shows up rusty. I doubt that they do being that the fight is a MAJOR one and neither has showed up out of shape and sluggish before.

This isn't RJJ/Hopkins 2 by any stretch.

 

I can't find anything on his Facebook even acknowledging Pac exists, let alone saying he's going to fight him.
