Two of the biggest heavyweight wastes of the 90's. Both had the talent to be champs, but never reached thier potential. Golota because he was a nutcase, and Tua because he never met a burger he didnt like. Having said that, both were legit forces in 96-97.... had they fought then, who wins?

In 1996, Tua was a 217-pound fighting machine. Tua KO1. Maybe Golota survives for a little bit, but eventually, he'd be kayoed. He simply lacked the talent, the chin, the heart and the power to survive Tua.

Tua would have knocked Golota out, sometime during the second half of the fight.

    Tua.

Even if Golota doesn't freeze up in the beginning against a big puncher here, he'll find a way to lose in the long run.

What an idiot you are...Golota had a very good chin....Lewis's debacle killed his confidence and ability to take a punch...that happened in 97 we're talking 96. Golota was at his peak of confidence...and if you don't know fool Golota and Tua were both under Duva at that time and sparred frequently..Golota DOMINATED TUA in sparring DROPPING him all over the place...find some quotes from Lou Duva you'll see....plus Tua's chin is overrated Izon went 12 with him oleg went late too without being KO'ed...Golota dominates Tua and stops him in 8

I can't see this ending any different for Golota than his fight with Lewis did. Golota was(is) not a fast starter. That would be his downfall. Even if he did come in warmed up, Tua would catch him eventually. Tua would be bit and headbutted along the way but in the end either way Golota would have that confused look he had when Lewis knocked him silly. These guys were good friends back in the Duva camp days, but that would change by fights end.

Golota got hurt by an ageing Chris Byrd, and he was knocked out by Michael Grant. His chin sucked.

Yeah Tua went the distance with Lewis, and took 12 rounds of bombs for Ike, yet Golota would KO him in 8?:jester: :jester: :jester:

I seem to recall Golota back in his peak of confidence days nearly getting KO'd by Samson Pou'ha, who was a homeless man's Tua.

Golota would have done well against Tua........ until Tua hit him with a hook. After that he'd fall apart mentally and Tua would all over him.

Both guys had very weak performances in their prime. Watch Tua against David Izon or Jeff Wooden and it is damn difficult to see him beating Golota. Then watch Golota against Pouha and he seems like an easy KO victim for Tua. Comparing them on single fights is all about how you WANT to see it.

I think Golota would outbox Tua and get the better of him but at some point his concentration would slip and Tua would take hm out

Good post. The sad part is we shouldn't be debating this. It should have occurred.

Yeah, Golota had a bunch of poor performances, but he had ZERO good performances, you know... the type where he actually wins the fight?

Yeah it's sort of like the Vitali groupies who always talk about "he was winning before he lost", but even worse since Golota did it so many times.

Then some like to cry about him getting "robbed" against Ruiz when he practically sleepwalked after the 2nd round, finding a way to mess it up in a big fight, AGAIN.

But he did a good job of trading rabbit punches with Ruiz.

Right. I don't see this as a slam-dunk for Tua at all. Even a faded Bowe was better than Tua ever proved to be, & I'll tell anyone this much --- Tua would've folded in one manner or another had Golota put the beating on him he did Bowe in either of their two meets (particularly the second), & given certain fights, I have little trouble envisioning Golota doing just that against the as-mentioned inferior (to Bowe) Tua.

On the other hand, Golota is such an unreliable quantity. I don't really see a clear winner.

Tua is horrendously over-estimated in general.

My thoughts will never change on this matchup.

Had they fought in 96-97(which were the prime years of both of them) Tua by mid to late KO.

Golota was put on queer street by Pou'ha.... aka the homeless man's Tua.

Golota would have done very well early, but once his best punches dont phase Tua, and once David lands the hook... the Pole falls apart.

Tua is overrated, whenever people do the him vs prime Tyson threads. Theres always one or two idiots who say Tua would have beaten Tyson, but in reality... the 80's Tyson would completely shit on Tua.

Tua would completely fold up & stop throwing if given a beating on the level Golota dished out to Bowe, though. If that happened early, Tua would just shut down in my opinion, & anything could happen from there on out.

Bowe was clearly not the Bowe of old when he fought Golota. If he was... we woulda never heard of Golota.

Tua went into a shell after Lewis hit him, but Golota didnt hit HALF as hard as Lewis. IMO Golota didnt even hit as hard as Ike, and Tua handled those punches well and fired back(and won IMO).

Even a faded Bowe was a hell of a lot more formidable than Tua.

Tua TKO 11. Golota finds a way to lose, it's simply what he does.

Tua stops him late, likely behind on the cards
