Is Floyd's shoulder roll enough to withstand Manny's attack?

Ton answer the question no! The Shoulder roll will only open Floyd for Body shots. Especially on the ropes.

Floyd would do it but in spots and it wouldn't work like it does with other fighters.

At this stage Manny is like a video game fighter that you max all of his qualities with little flaws left.

He has skill, speed, power, but has become a smarter fighter.

I also think that Manny would take his preparation against Floyd more serious than what he did with Margarito.

I still think this fight is a toss up! Probably leaning towards Manny but both guys will raiser their games if they fight each other.

Good post...I can tell that you're a thinking person.

I especially like the video game reference..very true.

Floyd can't just sit on the ropes and shoulder roll..without hitting back...Manny's too fast and too unpredictable for that....but using it in conjunction with his offense will be helpful.

Anyway..I was watching Floyd's tactics against fast fighters (Mosley and Judah) and he hardly uses the shoulder roll defense. He tends to walk them down behind a high guard..and counterpunch immediately after having his guard hit. He'll fight Manny the same way..and as i said before that'll discourage manny's offense.

How on earth did pac have a huge weight and size advantage over JMM? JMM is taller than Manny, and they both made weight. I don't see how Pac had any advantage.

And I would put money on Cotto or Margarito to destroy JMM, you're out of your mind. Maybe in a p4p sense he might be better than those two but in a head to head fight he's losing to both. Size does mean something. JMM could not do what Pac has been doing.

If you could take one offensive performance from Pac that you regard as his best and have that Pac show up vs Floyd and take Floyd's best defensive performance to date to show up and face Pac, which Pac/Floyd would that be?

Pac's offense against Margarito vs Floyd's defense against Corrales.

For me It would be Pacquiao of the Cotto fight vs Floyd of the N'dou fight

Floyd's performance against N'dou was brilliant, a favorite of mine.

To compare the Judah fight to a potential Pac fight is ridiculous. Floyd had to be careful with Judah because he waits to counter and constantly for 12 rounds tries to draw you in to traps and is the ultimate safety first fighter...Pac fights NOTHING like Judah. The only corollary is their both southpaws with quick hands.

Pac was getting hit with Margarito jabs for goodness sakes, Floyd will land every jab he throws which will offset Manny's offense and setup Floyds quick right hands and hooks. The ONLY fighter Pac ever fought that had a good jab and laid back and set traps and used counters is JMM and Floyd does everything better than him. People will be shocked to see how easily Floyd dispatches Pac over 12.

I'm beginning to lean that way too. I don't think it'll be a close fight. I think one guy is going to dominate the other...such are the styles. I think Floyd's going to be the dominant one based on everything you just said.

Manny has been fighting guys that are right there in front of him, perfect for him style-wise. Manny would be missing in this fight, something that hasn't happened since the JMM fight. That said, with every month that happens Floyd's chances decrease. Manny is keeping sharp, throwing more punches every time while Floyd has barely fought in the last 4 years.

You're fucking comparing PAC to fucking Pavlik and you ask US yes US ?? If WE know anything about boxing ???

I used Pavlik as an Example of someone with usually great workrate..who can be reduced to a 10 punches a round fighter..but someone who's elusive and who's a great counterpuncher.

The fact that you didn't realize that this was the point I was making..actually proves my point.
