Williams was NOT in control at the time of the KO.

Martinez clearly won the first round, and was landing the better shots in the 2nd up until the KO.

I dunno WTF Steward was watching!

I have nothing against Paul personally... he's a good guy, and he comes to fight.

But he was one of the most overhyped fighters in YEARS!

Also Xplosive, gotta say I disagree with you on the KO. This KO is shockingly brutal, far more than the camacho one IMO. Paul looked like he'd been run over by a truck, it was scary.

This must have been 2002 or 2003 I'd taken some of our kids to an amateur tournament in Aiken, SC. Williams was there...I forget how many fights he'd had but it was early in his career. The ring announcer introduced him to the crowd and afterward kids came up to him to get autograph's etc. The fucker big timed most of the kids and wouldn't sign. hated the fucker since then.

I wish Jake posted more regularly these days...we talked about this at the time.

As much as I hate floyd, I have to agree with this. The one time I saw Floyd (after the N'dou fight) he signed everthing people brought to him. Only stopped to do TV interviews but otherwise stayed for a long ass time signing.

Yep, I just read that. I agree, in fact it was clear to me his chin was cracked in that fight, which is one of the reasons I picked Martinez in this fight.

Honestly though, I would SM would just repeatedly hurt him/stagger him and win a decision.

It has to be said, Martinez looks like more of a solid puncher since moving up. Some of the shots he throws are downright meaty. Including the one that almost murdered Paul of course. Plus he certainly got Pavlik's attention, his power looked respectable in that fight too.

 

Don´t know why people hate Williams. Guy fights whoever they put in front of him and is never in a bad fight, not even in a losing effort.
