The Funny Thing about this Fight is that Martinez is NOT a Puncher (Per Se), whereas Williams has Exhibited a VERY GOOD Chin...Yet from the 1st Time they Fought, Martinez was Able to HURT Williams UNLIKE Anybody we've Ever Seen...Now, he STRETCHES Williams FACEfuckingFIRST & REED Questions if Williams' Punch Resistance will EVER B the Same.... TONIGHT is Living Proof that "ANYTHING Can Happen in Boxing".... REED:kidcool:
That's what happens when you give up your height and lead with your chin. Begging someone to take your head off.
Paul has technically ALWAYS been flawed... what he had in his favor before was YOUTH, energy, and TOUGHNESS. Now he's almost 30, Martinez most likely ruined his toughness.... all he's gonna be now is a gutsy volume puncher who'll get lit up everytime he faces a sharp shooter.
While there's Definitely TRUTH to What U Say, This Fight Primarily Enhanced ROY'S Legacy...."Ya'll Musta Forgot!" REED:dancingBaby:
sergio martinez is a bad man, unfortunately i doubt he'll be able to completely capitalize on his talent, accomplishments, and willingness to face whoever, where ever. at this point his biggest paydays will be versus smaller guys with easy cash-ins being against margarito and mosley. ward, bute, etc would be solid money fights as well
Fuck that. Ward has done nothing to earn a fight in Oakland vs a pfp former 154lb sensation like Martinez. He doesn't go on the road, he throws headbutts, he didn't even make the fight with Dirrell. BS about Dirrels head if they had reached terms that fight would have been made before Dirrell came up with that excuse. He can stay in Oakland with his Super 6 Underwear collection. I won't call them belts. Underwear. He beat Kessler, credit for that, but has done fuck all since. He can fuck off. Glen Johnson handled Green easier. I want to see Martinez vs Abraham in Spain, in a true Bull vs Matador fight.
So he only won every second of every round vs. Kessler because the fight was in Oakland? What should he have done since? He signed on for a fucking tournament.
That's right. He signed on for a tournament, so he can't fight Martinez even if he deserves to fight him. :kick::crafty: He should have agreed terms with Dirrel, before Dirrell had the chance to punk out. He should have knocked Green out, like old ass, dehydrated ass Sven Ottke-victim/ Clinton Woods-victim Glen Johnson did. He has no stoppages in his two biggest fights, won't come out of Oakland..fuck him. He is not even relevant as far as being an exciting, well-matched foil for Martinez. The fight would suck. Seeing as the tournament is hell-bent on fucking people like Abraham over, he should bail out of the tournament after the Froch fight, win lose or draw, and try to get Martinez in Spain at one of those patented Floyd Mayweather style weight compromises. 166 for Abraham, 162 for Martinez, I can dig it, and Abraham at least deserves that big fight.
:: Ward and Direll had agreed to terms. Abraham deserves nothing. He's a clear class below Direll, for fucks sake.
Yeah, that's a pretty accurate assessment. Though I would say the biggest component of his success is actually energy/workrate, I know you capital'd the other 2, but it's just the sheer volume he can output that I think is his biggest pro.
Yes, because Ward is a naturally bigger man by 2 weightclasses, who won't be surrendering any speed advantages, and who won't take any risks. Why Ward should be allowed to enhance his own legacy by fluffing his way to a majority decision down in Oakland at the expense of a guy who is prepared to take on bigger men at their preferred weights and away from his home town, and look good doing it, is beyond me. If Ward, in the immortal words of Eddie Murphy, wants to impress me, he can take the wheel by moving up to 175 and taking on Pascal in Montreal, or stay at 168 and fight Bute in Montreal. This shoeshine nonsense down in the Gay Area isn't washing it.
