I'm assuming its at 154, right?

Benitez by clear decision. Assuming he's in the form of the Duran, and Hope fights. Martinez is good enough to compete with El Radar, and win rounds, but overall Benitez was the better techncian of the two and his class would show.

I dont think any guy who fights the way Martinez does is going to do shit against Benitez

Yup...anyone who fought any members of the super-heroic Fabulous four cannot possibly have any difficulty with a fighter of the '10s.

In any event I too agree with a Benitez win. Martinez lands one huge punch and everyone goes crazy. Let's see if he can duplicate that type of KO in his next three fights.

You think Benitez had an especially easy time with back foot counterpunchers with physical advantages who encouraged Benitez to lead (Leonard)? With big, strong Middleweight southpaws who could physically bully him in the clinches (Hamsho)? What aspect of Martinez style makes him especially easy for Benitez?

It's a tricky fight for Benitez, IMO. In 1000 match ups he loses more than zero.

Leonard had one of those things... what do you call them? A JAB

HUGE difference... also Leonard was about 800 times faster than Martinez with flawless technique

and Benitez was well on his way to pasture when he fought Hamsho, that is meaningless to me... Hamsho was a mauler and brawler anyway, dont see what that has to do with Martinez

today's fighters are lesser than the fighters of 10 years ago

do you honestly think Martinez would have a chance of besting Bernard Hopkins? I wouldnt pick him to beat Tito at 160

I dont know how anyone can watch world-class boxing these days and not see all of the flaws in technique and execution... and how they cant see how painfully thin the talent pool actually is

Marvin Hagler would jab right through Martinez's skull... Tommy Hearns would knock him into oblivion... Leonard would out-everything him... I dont know how you are unable to see how much better those guys are than Sergio martinez or Paul Williams or Kelly Pavlik
