I'd like to pick AA, and I'd like to think that he's going to win big. But there's one major factor that I just can't ignore.... AA isn't very good.

I'll remember this statement come Saturday when Frochy is looking up at the lights.

No more use in us debating this. We'll all see in 3 days.

The thing is, although I picked Froch in that one, I always maintained that Kessler should win as he is more skilled. I thought Kessler wouldn't have the heart to go through a war of attrition if Froch dragged him into one. Kessler suprised me so fair play to him.

With Abraham, I've just never really rated the guy. He has a dumb fighting style and I've said Froch would win this one from the day the tournament was announced.

I agree, the main thing that Kessler surprised me with was his fighting spirit and balls in that fight.

He deserved to win that fight mainly through effort/spirit. Something he hadn't really shown before.

And yeah, Arabham has such a hideous style, I'm fucking amazed that there are proper boxing fans on this site that like him.

So ugly, just plods around with his hands glued to his face, throwing 5 power punches a round.

By the way Slicey, check out the Frock video on fightbeat. Again he says "I'm very fast"

You also said he'd beat Kessler (he didn't).

I thought he lost to Dirrell.

AA isn't a smart fighter but out of the guys remaining...he's the biggest puncher. I didn't think his power would translate to 168 but it has.

I think it'll be touch and go down to the end. Kessler had Froch badly hurt a couple times...if Abraham catches him clean I think Froch stays hurt.

AA covering up is the worst thing he can do. Froch isn't shit when moving backward...can only fight forward. AA needs to stand his ground and let Froch run into his power...will double the force of his punches.

A win over Froch isn't going to convince me that AA doesn't suck, X. Both these guys are mediocre.

Has it? Because he sparked shop worn Taylor?

He hit Dirrell with a significant amount of flush punches and they did nothing. Even Frock, whose power is pretty average at 168, stunned Dirrell more than Arabham did.

I said from the START of the tourney that the WORST possible matchup for Froch was AA.

Anytime you have defensively shitty, non-mobile, technically flawed guy like Froch who leaves himself wide open when he throws, and often pulls straight back, and you match him with a devestating puncher who throws compact shots... its gonna be curtains.

I disagree with this. I think AA has a pretty high ring IQ. He slowly found a way to find home with his right hand on Dirrell.... and Froch is nowhere remotely close to being as quick or elusive as Dirrell.

His right hand landed because he threw it. Was intimidated by Dirrell's speed. As Andre slowed down and stopped throwing as much AA got more brave.

Froch isn't anywhere near as fast as Dirrell...he's got to hurt AA and keep him hurt.

    EXACTLY!

Outworking him isnt enough. He's gonna have to really hurt AA.

If he cant... he'll get walked down.

Yes I did say he would beat Kessler, as I pointed out myself. I also said Kessler should win as he is more skilled, as I pointed out myself, and that Kessler surprised me by having the heart for a battle, as I pointed out myself. Also I don't think Froch was ever badly hurt in that fight, I never thought he was going over at any stage.

I also had Dirrell winning, by a point, but to be fair Froch was the one trying to make a fight of it, and Dirrell should have made sure of it, he had all the tools to win that easy. Tools Abraham doesn't have.

I'll gladly eat crow if Abraham wins this, but he won't.

Yep, Kessler gets major kudos from me for battling that one out. Also made a mockery of those who said Kessler was going to "kill" Froch, because although he clearly won, it was never comfortable.

As for that video  . Froch is by far the most unintentionally funny boxer out there, it's like he lives in some kind of alternative universe

I'll give Froch that much... he's one of the more funny fighters in the game.

I was cracking up in 360 when they landed in Helsinki and the FIRST thing he says to guy sent to greet him when he got off the plane was "I heard they chuck themselves off buildings here alot.":laughing:

The guy he said it to musta been thinkin "This guy is a fuckin nut!"

He's definitely a strange fellow, in a hilarious way.

Xplosive, haha, I'm surprised you're the first person who's mentioned that.

I cracked up when I saw it. It's literally the FIRST thing he says to the guy

    Frock is genuinely odd.

No doubt mate, do you remember before the Dirrell fight when it showed him cleaning and hoovering his house. Then he started babbling on about how "Theres nothing worse than coming back from a fight to a messy house" or something like that

Froch is awesome, but he has to lose on Saturday. They can have a rematch in the final.

..and he must read Fightbeat forums. Where else can you learn as much about finnish suicide rates in the boxing community?

Btw has Ugo made his daily "I´m still alive"-post yet?

I'm looking forward to AA vs Froch...the other fights I'm less interested in.

    btw...

would be hilarious if Ward got KTFO tomorrow then won the tournament.

I thought so too for a long time, but there's a bit more too it than that. It's effective.

I think Froch will win the first few rounds big but only by setting a pace he can't quite sustain. Froch generally controls pace and range with feints and there's nobody more immune to feints than a guy who's already in a defensive shell as you try to put him in one. That's the pay off he gets for the reduced output. Froch is gonna have to throw allot to keep AA off him - 85 punches a round +. By the 4th or 5th Abraham's will start landing and Froch's brawling instincts will take over sooner or later and he'll start leaving openings I don't think his (sturdy) chin can plug.

I'm not saying Froch doesn't have a chance, he MIGHT win the inevitable firefight (unlikely, IMO) or he might even be able to maintain the pace he needs to win a decision.

But A.A by KO between the 5th and 10th is the logical pick here, IMO.
