Can you list some poor men's versions of better fighters ?

David Tua would be a poor man's Joe Frazier
This will get some heat but Joe Frazier could be poor man's Mike Tyson
Larry Donald could be poor man's Ali (jab, right hand and good chin)

Ward is a poor man's prime Hopkins.

Micheal Katsidis is a poor man's Ray Mancini

Jean Pascal is a HOMELESS, pissing in a pot man's RJ.

Tim Bradley is a slightly poor man's Stevie Johnston, mixed with a bit of a homeless man's Meldrick Taylor.

Danny Jacobs is a homeless man's Jermain Taylor... which is sad, and says how bad Jacobs is.

Paulie Malignaggi is a poor mans flashier version of Paul Spadafora.

I don't care how in love some of you fuckers are with Paulie's gelled hair, frosted tips and orange tan.

Malignaggi never nearly got KTFO by Victor Sosa, or got a gift over Dorin.

Spaddy woulda done MUCH worse against Cotto, Hatton, and Khan.

A prime Jones isnt a poor man's ANYBODY. Thats just a retarded statement.

The rest is correct... esp bout Johnson being a poor man's Qawi.

Yeah, you've fallen under the spell.

He fought better comp overall.........but he's not "better", by a long shot.

I forgive you. The ability to wear eyeliner and hair extensions in the ring while using speed to pivot your face directly into incoming punches can make any man swoon.

    As a group, I said.

IMO Jones and Spinks cancel each other out, with Spinks having an edge if you just count their Light Heavyweight careers.

Umm maybe I'm missing soemthing.... but who exactly did Spaddy beat to prove he was better than Paulie?

Paulie fights Spaddy's comp, and Malignaggi would have remained undefeated as well.

Maligaggi gets credit for not being afraid to take on top guys.

Spaddy was a pussy who stayed VERY far away from guys like Castillo, Lazcano, Corrales, Casa, and turned down a 1 mill payday to fight Floyd.

Going the distance with that bum Green.

Whats sad is... even a 40+ Hopkins would stop Allen Green.

Hell, the Roy Jones that beat Lacy would stop Allen Green.

Andre Ward blows. Not literally, but he's not HALF as good as his immense hype.

Based on a gold medal, a Kesler win that arguably trumps anything Hopkins did, and my eyes. Obviously, Hopkins has proven more, but that doesn't mean he is better.

Much as I like Kessler.... a prime Hopkins would have given Mikkel a TERRIBLE beating.

Ward cant polish Hopkins' shoes as of yet.

A Gold Medal???...Vassily Jirov Won a Gold Medal (AND the Val Barker Award, if REED's Not Mistaken)...James Toney Didn't...Who was Better???...Floyd Patterson Won a Gold Medal, but Sonny Liston Didn't...Who was Better???...In & Of Itself, a Gold Medal is in NO WAY a Barometer for who the Better PROFESSIONAL Boxer is....

You've ALWAYS OVERRATED Kessler & U're Continuing to Do So Here...Bernard's Wins Over Trinidad, Tarver & Pavlik Absolutely SHITs On Anything Ward's Ever Done...The Glen Johnson KO Likely Does as well...

Bernard Hopkins is More TALENTED, More SKILLED, CRAFTIER, TOUGHER, etc...Like it or Not, Bernard Hopkins is an ALL-TIME GREAT...To even SUGGEST that Ward is "Better" than Hopkins is Idiotic...The Contrarian BULLSHIT ARTIST Strikes Again!!!!....

Hopkins gave Trinidad and Joppy terrible beatings. Neither is like Kessler. He never gave anyone like Kessler a terrible beating. Hopkins' dad, Calzaghe, couldn't give Kessler a terrible beating. No reason to think Hopkins could or would.

Ward hasn't accomplished nearly what Hopkins did, but that doesn't mean he isn't a better fighter than Hopkins was.

So, you'd pick Trinidad, Pavlik, and Tarver over Kessler?

Who will History Treat More Favorably???...Trinidad or Kessler???...Tarver or Kessler???...Admittedly, TODAY, History would Treat Kessler More Favorably than it Would Pavlik, but Mikkel Comes up SHORT Against the Other 2...

YOU'RE the Guy that was ALREADY Calling Kessler a "Great Fighter" PRIOR to the Super 6 Tournament...Like REED Said, You OVERRATE Kessler...IMMENSELY...But Since Ward Wiped his Ass w/a Guy that U OVERRATED All Along, Now U're Selling Ward as Being BETTER than Bernard???....

Audley Harrison won a gold medal whilst David Haye 'only' got a silver. How did that one work out?

While this is unfair, and not at all representative of the talent of the man himself.....Herol Graham, the poor mans Joe Calzaghe.

It's just too much of a neat fit to be ignored.

Herol was a flash-pizazz southpaw who would have won title after title if he could have only gotten away with the same mistakes Calzaghe had. His chin let him down over and over again.

People will say that the Jackson fight was not about Chin, but Grahams disappointments went beyond the Jackson fight....the Brewster fight was a class example of what I am talking about.

When Joe Calzaghe got dropped by Mitchell he came back to win. If that was Graham, he loses.

Why should that get heat? Frazier could definitely be classified as a poor man's Tyson.

David Tua is a poor man's Tyson also.

    Good thread btw...
