Well, UFC 125 just became one of the lamer looking New Year's cards in UFC History.

I like the matchup of Diaz and Kim (Stun Gun) and Leben versus Stann should be a slugfest. Unfortunately neither is strong enough to support the can't-miss snorefest main event of Edgar-Maynard.

I hope White and Silva beef up this card. Aldo's UFC debut was the biggest draw on the card for me. Penn didn't take any damage. Maybe Penn-Fitch can be moved up from 127 to 125.

It looks like 124 and 125 are thin cards right now. 126 isn't much better but at least the Belfort-Silva match is a great main event.

There's 6 weeks to sign and promote a new co-main. Lets hope there are some healthy a-level guys that are ready to go on short notice......

Id rather they just moved Silva-Vera up.

    Gomi-Guida isn't the worst co-feature Ive seen. It's a pretty good one.

Me too. Edgar has the superior stand up by a mile. Its just Maynard is a takedown machine. He does fuck all with it once he gets the takedown, but I would love to see Frankie stuff those takedowns and bloody up Maynard's face a bit. I just don't know if he can especially with the first fight as a guideline. Frankie is a 145'er and Maynard could easily fight at 170

I would be too if we hadn't seen it before. Edgar is ultimately too small to stop Maynard's relentless take downs. If this fight is even slightly different from the first fight, I will be shocked and absolutely happy....

I have kind of felt the same way, REED. Nothing that I can put my finger on, just seems to be the case. Especially since he wants nothing to do with fighting Kenflo.

Frankie's striking have improved 10 fold since the first Gray Maynard. He's also shown improvement in getting back to his feet. If he can escape BJ's back mount, I think he has a shot at surviving the Gray and Pray.

I am praying you are right. Gray Maynard could easily be the most boring champion of all time.

The only thing that matters is if he has improved his takedown defense. And honestly, we won't know that until they fight. Maynard isn't Penn. He isn't Sherk. He isn't Franca.

As Jarhead said, Maynard is a huge 155 pound fighter with the best takedowns in the division and the ability to suck the life out a fight with his top control.

I think he's boring as hell and hope Edgars knocks him out. But I don't see it happening.

Gray isn't that bad. He's no Dan Miller, or Akiyama.

Agreed, but they aren't fighting for a title neither. Gray would be a fun watch if he could learn to pass guard and drop bombs. He doesn neither.

He imposes his will and his offense 100% of the time. Good enough for me.

His rematch with Diaz was one of his worst. He fought safety minded and imposed 0 offense you speak of. Not sure how someone can like Maynard. He is your prototypical wrestler who will not work on the other facets of MMA. But hey, more power to ya.

Maynard is terrible to watch. He's right up there with Sonnen and Shields.

He got the better of the stand up in the first two rounds.

Maynard has obviously improved in all areas, especially his defense, and he's smart and knows what he's good at.

Im not expecting him to start striking or subbing dudes like I wouldn't expect Silva or Shogun to start shooting in for takedowns.

Granted, he's not one of my favorite grapplers, like Shields, Sonnen and Munoz and a prime Arona, but he's no Gilbert Yvel or Ben Saunders esque scrub either.

True dat. I have always liked Edgar as a grappler. He has done a nice job rounding out his game, but can always go back to wrestling. Sonnen is a beast at applying his wrestling, good pick. I know he's a bit green, but you have to give King Mo some props as a pure wrestler in MMA. The way he manhandled Mousasi was impressive.

Mo was very ineffective though. Mousasi busted him up off his back.

Good point, but as a takedown guy, he is hard to stop.
