Froch won by the simple expedient of working, moving his hands, and pretending not to be bothered by Dirrell, which he most certainly was, especially when Dirrell hurt him. The difference was that Froch carefully maintained the image of a man who was being annoyed by Dirrell, but not much more.

Dirrell, on the other hand, acted like a man who had been thrown into a cage with a rabid wolf.

The vast majority of rounds in that fight had LITERALLY nothing at all happening. Nothing at all. In those rounds I scored for the person who was at least trying to make the fight; the aggressor. That was Froch. Much of his work was ineffective but there was at least some work from him. Dirrell did, for 90% of that fight, absolutely nothing at all.

Off the top of my head, and believe me, I have watched that fight twice and have no desire to watch it again, I think Dirrell had claims for perhaps two or three of the last five rounds. Round ten (or maybe nine, I can't be sure ) was a CLEAR round for him as he chose to engage at last and landed some good, hurtful shots. But he lost, clearly IMHO, at least seven of the first eight rounds simply by doing absolutely nothing whilst Froch pursued him, harried him and landed some decent shots.

As I said, there is nothing wrong with fighting off the back-foot. When done effectively you can make the aggressor look foolish. But Dirrell only did that in tiny spurts- nowhere near enough to win the fight IMHO.

Direlll manfully painted the image of a guy who didn't want to be in there. Flopping around, holding, complaining.

Froch looked like a guy who cared less.

I had Dirrell winning by a point, but could easily see it the other way. The thing is, Dirrell had the tools to win that fight EASY, but obviously he hadn't read the manuals.

He shit himself is what he did.

There is no way Dirrell won that fight. Seriously, the repercussions of rewarding that sort of performance with world titles don;t bear thinking about IMHO. The last thing our sport needs right now, in the face of all it's other problems, is cowards and cheats like Dirrell faking his way into the elite marquee

I thought the clean shots were coming from Dirrell. I wanted Froch to win as I had a prediction league going at the time but I thought he just missed out. I remember thinking Dirrell had what it took to win that fight easy, but he didn't. Horrible fight, never want to see it again.

I'm pulling for Kat later on, but I think he'll walk into too many counters. Hope I'm wrong.

Why are you rooting for Kat? Because he's young and more exciting?

I'm rooting for Marquez because I quite like him these days.

No, simply because he's a warrior and a nice guy and deserves to reach the top.

Ive ALWAYS liked Marquez. Even in the days when everyone rode the nuts of either Barrera, or Morales... Marquez was my fav of the Mexican's.

I also said even BACK THEN that he would beat MAB.

You pick every british fighter to win, you would pick Gavin Rees to beat Floyd Mayweather.

At least Abraham landed three more punches than Fraudley. :mj:

Sounds like he and Guzman are destined to fight eachother. It can be at a catchweight of 165.

I agree, I underrated him at first partly because he was beaten by that little Mexican fighter, and partly because he looks like an outright fucking gangly retard in the ring.

He makes Frock look compact and polished.
