For fuck sake...he lights up a guy that people thought Kevin Mitchell might be able to beat....and now people want to know if JMM is the best combo puncher of all time.

    Why is it sad?

Name some guys you put ahead? Not disputing your claim, just curious who you'd put ahead of him.

    He's def up there.

But you also have guys like Robinson, and Lopez who are near the top.

Or even prime Holy, and Tyson.

Was gonna say. His combination punching was well on display against Pacquiao and Barrera.

He's not even the current best combination puncher.

Pacquiao's combos are insane. And he throws them while zooming around the ring sideways.

Marquez IS an excellent, very accurate combination puncher though.

Nobody would ever say Wlad Klitschko was one of the great combination punchers of all time. But if you cherry-pick his fight with Ray Mercer you can start making the argument.:shit:

pacquiao has proven himself to be a beast and a great champion, but personally Id much rather watch a guy like marquez fight. his skill is more impressive to watch than pacquiao's style

    I disagree.

It's very, very impressive, but Pacquiao's own skill combined with his freakish natural talent is more impressive, and unique.

This is your response to my pointing out that JMM's combination punching was on display against Pacquiao and Barrera?

The point is, performances like this aren't confined to his fights against contenders. His combination punching is effective and impressive against the very best guys in the sport.

I agree though that at this point, Pacquiao probably is a more impressive combination puncher, although JMM's are somehow prettier.

    No.

But he's fucking excellent. I'd thoroughly enjoy Pacquaio/Marquez III.

At this point, Manny would destroy JMM inside 5 rounds. What did Marquez ever do to you??

Maybe. But twice Pacquaio has been on a roll raping very good fighters, and twice he's run into Marquez and been pushed to the limit.

It's his counterpunching and his combinations that have allowed him to win about 60% of the rounds he has fought with Pacquiao. Marquez is a great fighter but he didn't need to stop the greek for us to know it.

JMM is a very good combination puncher. He can string accurate punches together from almost any angle or ring position.

That being said, I can't forget how he was limited to throwing single shots in the fight against Mayweather. I know the weight difference. I know Mayweather is an all time great. Nevertheless, that reduction of JMM to an average offensive fighter separates him from other great combination punchers.

I don't know about the best combination puncher, but I'll say his hooks to the body of Katsidis were just brutal.

Katsidis took most them and continued coming forward, showing just how tough he is, but you could see them having an impact on him.
